Thanks for nothing Cobb

I bought a Cobb catted DP for my '14 wrx and had issues with the tranny hanger bracket and dp bracket lining up so I made as much room as possible and put a bolt in to secure things. When I let off the throttle or reverse the DP bangs against the tranny cross member and it is bothersome. So I called Cobb headquarters and the rep informed me that he had never encountered this issue before and insisted I look at the install guide to make sure I installed it correctly......really? Any suggestions?

My lady had similar issues with her exhaust upon instalation of the downpipe. We got some cobb 15mm polyurethane hangers (not cheap) but stiff enough to reduce any wiggle on her exhaust. It's not A foolproof fix, but atermarket hangers are a worthwhile investment in the long run.

Thanks for the tip, it's odd that the dp and crossmember have an 1/8 clearance between the two plus I'm mated to the stock catback

I jumped on the bandwagon of the Cobb downpipe then ultimately their turboback back when I had my WRX... POS design in my opinion. I do not like how it tapers down. However it keeps heat well. I never had your issue on my hatch but, you may want to look into hangers 12mm should do you good for your car.

Yeah. So since your catback is stock, there should be no need for stiffer hangers. The clearance you mentioned is unbelievably close, but Cobb makes quality pieces so it shouldn't hit.

hangers i doubt will resolve the DP being close and hitting things.

+1 on kartboy hangers

had them for a year now and no more squeeking noises..

maybe you can find the area that its hitting and wrap thermo exhaust tape around it.. i was never too fond of Cobb stuff besides the Accessport.

I might try the heat wrap, just irritated that I spend good money on a "quality" downpipe and have rediculous issues

Maybe I'm just used to American cars, but this is just the sort of stuff you find with aftermarket parts.
Cars have production variances.

I've been in touch with Cobb a whole lot lately for a few different things. Cobb's Photography program, a new Access Port, a Carb sticker for my intake, and getting serial number swaps for my custom tune to go from my V2 to my V3. Their response times and communication have blown me away.

I'd venture to say if you explain the situation, send pictures, and all that, they're likely be able to help you. I've had nothing but 5-star exemplary service from these guys, by telephone or email.
