Because that would probably damage the motor, and Toyota thought it'd be better to kill off their customer base than replace motors. I call it Toyotanomics.

Seriously though, that does confirm what Gagan and I discussed before, with the accelerator overriding the power button and gear selector. Toyota deserves HEAVY penalties on top of wrongful death suits for that.

when i was 16 and stupid, i drove my dads truck and to save gas i'd put it in neutral and coast down long hills...
needless to say once it went into R, stalled the truck at 40mph and i could hardly turn or brake.
