I worked for an ISP company doing over the phone tech support (dial up connections). We took calls for at least 3 different ISPs. We would get a call from a customer cancelling their account because they hated our service. We would then hang up with them and answer the phone again just to sign them up under a different ISP. Setup fee also charged. Gave them a different number for their computer so they were none the wiser. Sometimes changed my name because my name isnt that common.

Small business get incorporated, run up bills, declare bankruptcy and than reopen the next day under a different name all of the time. There is almost nothing their creditors can do to get paid.

If you offering a company credit, check out the owner. If he has several business under his name, some of which do nothing at all, than make him pay COD.

Great America rarely changes the oil for their funnel cake fryer. They're required to change it once a week but supervisors just sign it off but don't actually do it. When it is actually changed the bits and pieces of batter mixed with the old oil comes out like thick gunk.

Not in this case. I see this scam all the time in the Moving & Storage industry.
You can start a moving company with a cell phone, a debit card, a rental truck and some day laborers. They will generally stick around through the summer busy season, scam a bunch of clients, than declare bankruptcy and disappear.
Lots of scumbags in the trucking industry in general.

I spend a good part of my day limiting risk with new clients.

There is nothing I love more than having some jerk try this scam on me, and than realize after the fact they signed a personal guarantee for their company finances.
