EVO pros: The fact that out of the box it handles so good and reacts so well to power mods is selling me on the EVO over the STi.

STi pros: Im thinking Subaru reliability and daily driver comfort.

Why shouldnt I buy the EVO?? What do YOU think?
Sounds to me like you said it yourself. Buy a STi to use everyday, get an EVO if you plan on it being a track car.

For me I'd get a STi purily on the basis that I love the Subaru burbble out hums out of the tail pipe.

maybe this site can help ...

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...6/pageId=68445

It compares the 2006 sti and evo 9, but the evo IX is very tempting if you ask me becuase it would more fun to drive.

I'd stay with subies. Better sound, better safety, better looks and definitely better interior.

that is true Subaru does have a more comfortable interior ... and did get better crash test ratings than the evo ..plus who doesnt like the boxer sound.

you should definitely check out the 07 STI before jumping into an Evo9, it'll make you think twice...

but yea I'd take an Evo9 over the other STI's

Get the STi!

I'll give you the best reason:

2009 nissan Skyline GTR. Should hit desalership this time next year. Say it's all marked up for a whole year and msrp is . Depending on how much you save up for two years, that 70k purchase price becomes more like 30-40k, and much more affordable.

I think that's a pretty damn good reason not to buy an evo.

A friend and I worked together throughout school to buy a car. 4 years ago I absolutely had to buy something so I bought a WRX. He kept low until last year and bought a new Z06, mostly in cash.

though I hope you'll be 25 - in my underage state it's 1400/year to insure my '03 bugeye and 6500/year to insure a z06 and I'd venture a GTR won't be any less.

The funny thing is... I have an Evo IX and I'm considering getting an 07 STI. They both have good local communities (I-club & Nor Cal Evo) and they both have some not-so-great wider based communities (NASOIC & Evolutionm.net). I think both are great cars. IMO, the Evo IX's looks > 06/07 STI looks. They both have the same general feeling when you drive them. It just may be cheaper to mod an Evo and make more power than you would an STI. Stock for stock, I'd probally get an STI. The STI did seem much more comfortable and the interior was much more nicer than my Evo. In turns, the Evo does feel a bit more predictable than the STI when I drove both. To each his own... I dont think you'll be dissapointed with either choice.
