Exclamation Talk me out of buying an EVO IX !!

Ive parted out my heavily modifed bugeye wagon and Im thinking about buying an EVO IX. Ive dreamed about an STi for sooooooo long....but after test driving the EVO VIII and IX I think Im hooked.

EVO pros: The fact that out of the box it handles so good and reacts so well to power mods is selling me on the EVO over the STi.

STi pros: Im thinking Subaru reliability and daily driver comfort.

Why shouldnt I buy the EVO?? What do YOU think?

you said it yourself...

how often are you taking the EVO to it's limit DAILY...

every single comparo mag articles between the EVO and the STi... the closing comments are always something like

"we'll take the EVO for it's almost perfect track behavior... but for daily driving, i'll take an STi..."

Reasons to buy the Evo:
- performance edge
- cost of bolt-ons
- warranty (this might be a negative since mitsu has debated pulling out of the NA market, plus you'll probably void it anyway)
- better sleeper potential

Reasons to buy the STI:
- looks better (sort of, not crazy about either of them which is why I only have a wrx.)
- durability
- interior is way better
- boxer sound = great, inline sound = heinous
- less douchebags drive them
- its not a mitsubishi

yeah, I actually just thought the prototype/rumor pictures looked mean, but then the actual pictures in R&T just look bland

werd i think the aftermarket industry is going to have a lot of trouble initially in getting over the DSG-like transmission. as it stands now they're only a few companies that have dabbled in that field, and they're all euro companies

EVO 9,

You can get those crazy offset wheels, for that deep set look that we Subers can't do!

The IX still has features resembling previous models to the IV and V

honestly, test drive both of them if the dealer allows it and see which one you would prefer. which could you see yourself in. you are the one that is going to have to see it in your driveway everyday.

I'll stick with the Suby because I plan on getting another wagon, if you dont care about having a wagon anymore than you should check out the EVO 9.

haha, didnt think this thread would have turned out so lopsided
