hey SD. since you have the XTi, you know you can hook up the USB to a laptop and control the camera through that. just as good as a remote shutter release, only you can adjust aperture and shutter speed through the computer. pretty awesome stuff

so what am i doing wrong.
i take like 4 pictures...shutter speeds fro 1" to 10"
for the 1" I'll focus on the brightest area, and for the 10" i focus on the darkest area.
then i automate>merge to HDR and they look the same, other than being able to slide the level slider...even then it looks like crap.

did you try bracketing? I just found out that I have the bracketing feature in my D50. Unfortunately my laptop doesn't have PS CS2 and Photomatix, so I have to wait until I get home to try it.
