summer tires and bay area "cold" weather

Hey... when is the last time any of your were running SUMMER TIRES in the bay area (not up in the mountains) and it was cold enough that they felt greasy and/or lost traction because it was too cold?

I'm really trying to decide if I really need a set of all-seasons on my 2nd set of wheels or not. When I go to the snow, I take the OTHER car, so the WRX never gets up to the sierras.

Please give details:
- when was it (what time of year)
- where
- what was the weather and temp?
- what were you doing

calaveras right? and if so... then the choice of tires wont make much of a difference cuz the amount of the patch of leaves on there. hit a patch... and it almost doesnt matter wat tires you got... you'll slide.

and if i got u mistaken for someone else.. then my apologies bro.

I think he means Tahoe or anywhere else where it gets to near-freezing temps when he says "mountains."

well if you never take your car to the snow, leave summer tires on there. unless you really think you will change them out when the temp drops.

i had my bald 050s when it was snowing below 30 degrees. They were fine, i even hit some ice. if its cold or rainy, you should be inside playing gran turismo anyways

Car Info: this required information?
I have been running Rt615's for the past 2 years, winter through summer. As long as you drive conservatively in bad conditions you should be fine.

How many miles you get out of those and what kind of driving?

yeah, if your passionate about driving your car and cant live without it, you will get summer tires, no question about it

it only gets super cold a few times a year.

just realize you cant push it in the rain, even though my 225 summers can outdo my 205 all seasons.
