Way to go Subaru!
They're appealing two completely different audiences. A two-door sports car vs. a five-door hatchback. There isn't a whole lot of utility in a sports car. The only thing I can see them risking is some cannibalization from the STi audience.

If they do an AWD turbo model what is gonna happen to the STI? Subaru does't like to have competition between its own models.

That's why I think they have treated the LGT the way they have.
My thought exactly. For this new chassis to come into play, they'd either have to adopt this new model as the new Impreza STI, or phase the Impreza STI out altogether.

PS: uglist Subaru I've seen so far

I mean, I'd love it if it were true (and it seems like there is a good chance it is), but I don't think we can really call it confirmed.

An unknown source, with speculative art/renders of what it COULD possibly, maybe, sorta, somehow, if the stars align, look like? There has been zero mention of dimensions or weight in regard to a Subaru coupe, and even the Toyota FT86 hasn't mentioned weight. If they came right out and said "Oh btw it'll be like 3,200lb" it would kill the rumormills, and excitement on a car that won't be out until 2011, possibly as a 2012 MY (for the Toyota at least). Until Toyota, or Subaru state in an official press release that the coupe (from either manufacturer) is going to weigh <2800lb, I'll reserve judgement.

+1 ^^^^^
I certainly hope for both of these coupes' sake that they come out with good dimensions and curb weights.
