stupid question : tahoe?

so, this christmas break the girlfriend and i are talking about a little roadtrip.. nothing too serious, we'll probably hit tahoe, then vegas, then spend new years' with some friends in LA.

now here's my question : i've got S03's on the wagon. am i going to be hating life if i encounter snow? would chains help? am i just doomed?

-erik.

Cool

I've heard those tires aren't so great in the snow, but chances are the roads will be clear then, the odds are in your favor by the looks of things. Unless you're in the middle of a massive storm, the roads are usually kept relatively clear. even in the middle of winter.

Of course there's no way to know for sure, but my suggestion would be to track down some cables for your tires, and just run them on the front. Depending on your tire/wheel size, cables offer much better clearance and provide plenty of added traction.

good luck

Buy or borrow a bra. The pass is loaded with pea-gravel from sanding the roads. Thrashed parts of the front end that weren't
covered. Can't imagine how bad it would be without.

If you have some 17" wheels, I'll sell you some cables that have never been used.

If you still have the stock RE-92's, my suggestion would be to put them on before going into the mountains. If you're caught in a storm and there is chain control, Cal Trans will allow you to go through since you'll have all-wheel-drive and M+S rated tires.

Otherwise, you'll need to put on chains if you have the SO3's, and I hate putting on chains.
