resetting the battery just disconnect both battery terminals, pump the brakes to clear the grounds. make sure it is disconnected for a few minutes id say at least 10 minutes. as far as after resetting, drive regular since it will be in a learning process of how you drive.

I was always under the impression that the car should experience all of the RPM band through the learning process to get the IAM and power back to "normal".

Your tune should not disappear when you reset your ECU. Even open source tunes are typically hard flashed to the ECU's memory.

FYI - resetting your ECU may or may not clear the code. It definitely won't if you haven't replaced the O2 sensor.

This.

Resetting the ECU clears the CELs and any learning it has done. Such as advancing timing any knock corrections, etc. If you drive hard, your car will try to advance more timing giving you a slight increase in power, if you're like a granny it's going to retard the timing, giving you less power and possibly a slight increase in mpg.

If your O2 sensor is bad, your car is going to run pretty crappy until you get a new one. As soon as your ECU sees the O2 is bad, your CEL is going to come back again, are you just going to reset your ECU again?

wait if youre open source tuned why would that code pop in the first place?
unless its just the threashold one just erased.

It would have popped up if the o2 sensor was actually bad. No reason to disable that DTC even if you tune your car.

CAuse the o2 sensor went bad? Shouldn't I get a cel if it detects the o2 sensor is bad? What does having an open source have to do with it?

yeah thats why i posted if its only erased the threshold code. i wouldve expected mine to have been out too but i guess not even with how rich its running. and open source would have to do with what codes are being avoided. if you were AP it tells you what codes it will not show, and if one of them did somethings not right but nvm it makes sense that the o2 not reading one would pop up since its not completely disabled or anything. what pete says explains it.
