GSXRs are very nicely-set up bikes and are pretty forgiving. Are you set on an inline 4?
For a street bike, I'd take a V-twin or a Triumph triple. Save the inline 4s for squids and the track. Take a look at the Ducati Hypermotard. Triumphs are unbelievable to ride also. A Monster M900 can be had pretty cheap, btw.

Lots of squids ride inline 4 motorcycles, it's a fact. Not calling anyone a squid, just pointing out the truth. This obviously also doesn't mean that everyone who rides an inline 4 motorcycle is a squid.
GSXR is hard to beat, awesome bikes.

great pics guys but not everybody has a 15-20K price range to work with. power wise i suggest the gxsr 1000 engineering wise and quality id say R1 ive owned both in 2003 r1 and a 05 gxsr both great bikes and way over powered for any street application hands down for the price either one is a great bike. sounds like you can handle the power take your pick. i like the R1 i feel eventhough its a 1 litre i can still throw it around like a 600 but the power band is still pwerfull enough to stand you up out of a turn. good luck with choice

Honestly, I say CBR1000rr. Why you ask? It is hands down one the best handling big 4 bikes you can buy and the performance differences are so minuet between all of them even the Ducati... I'm sure your riding skill would hold you back, Simple as that. Besides a GSXR is commonly a squid Bike..
::EDIT::
^-- That being said, anymore these days. The difference is so close in all bikes performance wise, Unless your a Pro GP rider you will never be able to tell the difference anyways. I say go sit on each one, fined the one that you fell comfortable sitting on as well as like visual... And call it a day.
