Street bike guys I need some help.....
So I'm gonna pull the plug and get a bike sometime really soon, I guess what I really need help with is I don't know what bike to pick up. Just a quick background on my bike experience, I was rollen around on a 2001 cbr 929 when I was 17 and 18 so don't try to talk me out o a 1000cc bike. I'm also 6ft 4"and a slim 250, with that said the bikes I'm looking at are...
new r1
new GSXR 1000
Used/New GSXR only if the bike has a great deal
I have been doing some reading and from what I gather is that the new Honda's are not the best bikes out right now and that I should sick with a GSXR or a R1. I really like the looks of the zx10r but I have also heard that that bike also is not the best when it comes to reliability.
thanks for the help

I love the GSXR 600, can't go wrong with a Suzuki streetbike. Dunno if this holds true with the 1000cc but I'm sure it's similar. I've also ridden a lot of Yamaha bikes so I guess it really just comes down to preference. Honestly from the factory the R1 and GSXR are both fast as ****.

Always been a fan of Yamahas. I'm sure there's subtle differences in ride comfort and response between the new r1 or gxxr. But unless youre tracking these, you probably wouldnt notice a huge difference.
like people say, its all about preference. you really cant go wrong with either. Just curious, how come the ducs arent on your list? I cant get enough of the new 1198

A gixxer 6 would be too small for your height and weight, I should be on a 750 or a liter bike for my height as well (5-11 200) but after gearing and a custom tune my 6 is just as quick in the twisties as my friends and there liter bikes.
My dad has a 04 gixxer 1k and I really like the grunt that bike has and the ability to roll on a 4th gear wheelie with no prob but it's just too big and clumsy for me, it could be his setup and lack of a aftermarkt stabilizer or I'm just not used to it enough. I have riden a friends 09 gix 1k and it was a world of difference as to how well the bike preformed in the corners, just had to remind my self a few times that it has allot more tourqe when laid out lol.
A kawi zx10 is the largest and longest street bike for the 1ks so don't emliminate it from your list as it might be more comfitable to ride, my cuzin rides one and loves it but I can't really tell you much more the that as I have never riden one so I don't have any first hand experience on them.
I'm a gixxer fan boy my self but I wouldn't mind picking up a new R1 with that new crossplane engine they have, those things sound nasty
As long as you stay away from honda you will be fine IMO, let me know when you get your bike.

dont forget to consider bikes out of the big four. Aprilia's RSV4 has been phenomenal so has the BMW S1000RR. Just to keep it real, as much as I love the Big Four's liter bikes, I'm sick of everyone having them. Yeah bang for the buck performance they might be better but which one of us can really ride these bikes to their full potential. In my personal opinion get something "less" cookie cutter. I've had Yamahas, Suzukis, and Hondas so don't think I don't know a thing or two.

BINGO!!! price is a big factor
It's hard to beat the liter bikes in performance, but everyone has one. If I was to ever get another sport bike, I'd buy a Ducati. It's all matter of preference though. I rode a couple of my buddies R1's, that bike really get on it, 95mph in 1st gear!!

Seriously though, the new R1 is pretty sweet and you really can't go wrong with any of the big four. Best bang for your buck, IMO. But like Ipozetu said, Speed Triple is basically the best motorcycle to ever exist.
