I called my local Subaru dealer and they said they have no idea how to get it. I need one quart if anyone in the north bay knows where I can get some please tell me.

I don't think it's anything special... just use Redline 75W90

I know at capitol subaru they use subaru lsd differential gear oil for the rear diff, and regular 75w-90 gear oil for all other subaru models.

If you have an 04-06 sti use the Subaru lsd oil part # K0305Y0900 . 07 and up with Torsen diff use whatever you put in the tranny. The Subaru LSD oil is a straight 90 weight and there are some differences between it and the redline that should be researched before you buy

+1 to redline. No problems here after using it. Remember, when changing the oil, get the higher bolt out first!

I have redline in the rear diff right now and it sounds horrible. Redline 75w90 oil, gets two thumbs down.

If I remember what I have read correctly it is because the redlind is too slippery. That may be for the tranny though. Either way myself and MANY others have done great with the OEM LSD fluid. It may be that you need the redline with friction modifier in it, the NS version, but I am not sure.

Are you sure it is the rear diff making noise?

Your dealer should have it. It only comes to them in 5 gal buckets so you have to bring your own container.....

I cannot see a dealership not having this

You are thinking of Extra-S, not the Subaru LSD oil. The 90 weight LSD oil comes in a liter container.

I think half the people here are talking about tranny oil, not rear diff oil.

The dealer here in Santa Rosa looked at me like I had a eye in the middle of my forehead, so I called the dealer in Napa and they have many containers of the LSD fluid.

NP bud Keep in mind that a lot of dealers have no clue about Subaru LSD fluid or Extra-S Tranny fluid. Many of them just use whatever fluid meets the specs for the tranny or diff.
