If you have an 04-06 sti use the Subaru lsd oil part # K0305Y0900 . 07 and up with Torsen diff use whatever you put in the tranny. The Subaru LSD oil is a straight 90 weight and there are some differences between it and the redline that should be researched before you buy

If I remember what I have read correctly it is because the redlind is too slippery. That may be for the tranny though. Either way myself and MANY others have done great with the OEM LSD fluid. It may be that you need the redline with friction modifier in it, the NS version, but I am not sure.
Are you sure it is the rear diff making noise?

You are thinking of Extra-S, not the Subaru LSD oil. The 90 weight LSD oil comes in a liter container.
I think half the people here are talking about tranny oil, not rear diff oil.

NP bud Keep in mind that a lot of dealers have no clue about Subaru LSD fluid or Extra-S Tranny fluid. Many of them just use whatever fluid meets the specs for the tranny or diff.
