Hey guys I just wanted to get some input from all of you long time suby owners on how much oil consumption is normal for an sti with 30,000mi it seems that every time I check my oil just before change time it seems to be about a quart low after about 3,500-4,000mi is that normal?

I have a brand new STi well pretty much its got almost 3k miles and when i went in for my first 1k oil change it was half a quart low and my husbands 07 STi is usually a 1/2 to a quart low when he goes in for his 3k oil changes.

If your using 5w/30 I would say that's typical.

My is always a quart low after 3-4k miles. The lower weights do burn off quicker.

mine's got 49k miles and it doesn't seem to burn any, even after 3-4k miles and a weekend at the track. i use redline 5w-30.

FYI, Subaru of America considers up to 1qt consumed per 1000 miles 'normal'. Im on my 3rd Subaru (1984 wagon, 2002 wrx, 2004 STi) and they have all consumed oil.
