the IMAX at AMC in emeryville is not that much better than the regular screen.... I was amazed by the picture quality improvement, but the size and sound wasn't much better. I think the audio was actually better in a smaller theater.

I saw Matrix a long time ago on the IMAX at the Sony Metreon and recall not being very impressed. They did not even expand the picture to fill the entire screen. It was still being shown on the IMAX screen, but I swear it is was just a regular version of the movie as I really did not notice any difference in quality.
The IMAX at the Tech Museum in San Jose is setup weird as it is done on a Dome. My friends sat towards the middle front to see Fantasia 2000 and we had our heads on a swivel as the movie screen wrapped up and around you. It is much better to sit in the very back of that place to try and see everything possible.
Overall, I would either rather just see movies on a regular screen or heck even wait for them to come out on video seeing as how the price of 1 movie ticket at Regal Hacienda in Dublin was $11.50 this past weekend. What a rip-off when new movies when they come out on DVD are really not much more expensive than that.
However, the movie theater at Union Landing is only like $6.00 for the very first showing of a movie on a Saturday morning.
Movie theater pricing is just outrageous these days especially IMAX pricing which is something like $15.00+ just for 1 movie ticket.

My fiancee is not a trekkie and she enjoyed it thoroughly.
She had no idea even who the characters were before going into the theater (never saw the original series, only a few next gen episodes).

it was a very good movie. i didnt even want to go see this movie but in the end i ended up loving it. the movie made sense even if you have never seen star trek. this is the only movie thats actually kept me wanting to find out whats going to happen next. it was humorous, adventerous, slightly romantic, and overall an excellent movie.
