Spark Plug change? When do you modded guys do it?
Hey! The dealers (and manuals) recommend not changing the platinum plugs on the WRX until 60k.
What do you guys think the interval should be for a mildly modded car? I have 28k now, and have completed the 30k mile service.
Are you using the stock plugs?

Eric, since you are upgrading soon to a Stage 4 equivalent, I will suggest to install a set of colder range plugs before the new equipment goes in. Right now I am running one set colder platinum plugs. I may go with Iridium some day, but I just can't see myself spending $60 on a set of plugs. Also, copper plugs wear out a little over 5K miles, so you will need to change them practically every oil change.
Hope this helps.

Yup, coppers don't last as long, but give you a better spark where platinum's are the opposite with a longer life, but not as good of a spark. They have plugs called Iridiums or something like that, which are supposed to have the best of both worlds. They are most likely a little more expensive, but they might be worth it.

hmm i don't know about that copper giving the better spark. The platinum aren't as good as a conductor as copper but they do make the firing tip for platinum and iridiums smaller.
What i like about platinum and iridium is smoother acceleration longer life and it's not that much more for me. If you guys need some ngk let me know i'll see what i can find for you guys.

So here goes a research summary and part numbers (mostly from http://www.ngk.com/results_app.asp?AAIA=1378773)
Stock = PFR6G (platinum)
Iridium version = BKR6EIX
Copper version = BKR6E
One step colder platinum is not made anymore by NGK, it has been replaced by the iridium version, BKR7EIX. Now there is a BKR7EIX-11 version which is a wide gap >0.044" which you'd need to gap down quite far, which is not recommended by smart people here.
Now...anyone have that plug locally?!?!
