I bought my radar detector a few years ago when I was driving on HWY17 a lot (went to school in SC). After I graduated and didn't need to drive over 17 as much, I had thought the detector was useless since cops didn't use radar guns in the East/South Bay as much. But they just recently started using it in those areas where I commute to work a lot (880/237). I don't know if I should be happy about it or not, but my radar detector is much more worth it now. Even if I'm not speeding, I would flash my brake lights (without actually braking) three times when I pick up a KA band just to warn people behind me.

good man, i too use a radar detector, it's a good investment if you ask me. Even if I'm not speeding its just there for SA...

Haven't seen any more than the norm in SoCal. Hope this dies down before I head back home for summer break.

+1 for sleeper look with everything "looking" stock under the hood.

Helix HFC, Borla Hush here.

Had a CHP sneak up on me on 80 tonight, I didn't really notice because I was downing a shake. Traffic was moderate, posted limit 65, I was going 55'ish in top gear , middle lane. CHP stayed behind me for a couple miles, then a Volvo decided to change lines directly in front of my 2.5car length buffer ahead. So I had to brake check, CHP almost rear ended me. A minute later he moved by me s-l-o-w-l-y and took off.

Ah yes, I've seen people pulled over pretty much every day (and almost every drive/trip) now. The other day I was driving to pick up my gf at SF, and I decided I want to pass a van doing 60mph in front of me. As soon as I got to the next lane, I noticed that the car/headlights was quickly approaching me, so I decided to go back behind the van. As the car got closer I realized it was CHP, and by the time it got near me, it has slowed down enough to give the driver a chance to "stare down" at me, and off it went.

In my head, I was thankful he didn't pull me over, but I'm puzzled with the "stare down" (and this is not the first!) when I got out of his way early as a sign of courtesy. Oh well.

there are hella chips on i80 from sac to vallejo
I was coming back from sac yesterday at about 2pm
saw one chip in Vacaville standing on the side of the freeway with her radar gun. Then a few hundred feet later, another pulling someone over.

Then after passing American Canyon road, there was a chip motorcycle all the way at the rest stop catching people speeding down the hill..

Lucky for me there was a slow *** truck in my way

Cops are speed trapping every where all over the place. There's no way this isn't a significant increase in patrol.
