Sonoma backroads?

That said, I'm always up for a drive to the middle of nowhere for great roads as long as everyone behaves and comes home in one piece. I think money is better spent on gas and enjoying your car than some stupid carbon fiber part that looks awesome sitting in front of *$'s.

Roads like ****** ******* and *** **** and ****'* ***** or epic little drives over roads like Fairfax-Bolinas aren't very popular due to the price of gas. Most people aren't interested in spending a day driving, or a tank of gas. Some complain because they have to drive in order to get to the fun roads.
I remember the last drive I coordinated was ~1xx miles, but when people factored in coming from the South Bay, it would up being 3xx miles for their driving day.
I'd take you for a little tour and some photography Sunday if I wasn't already committed to some other activities.

I went out on a bit of an epic drive yesterday. Was supposed to meet up with a couple other guys but I think I missed them. So I ended up driving out through napa, Healdsburg, through ***** ****** (watch out for all the gravel!) out to the 1, then headed down the 1 to ********-********.... god I love that rally stage of a road! I'm really happy to be back in the north bay with all the amazing roads I grew up around! Ended up driving a solid 5-6 hours and burning through almost 1.5 tanks of gas. But hell this is therapy for me so its well worth it

...and that's one of the biggest reasons I doubt I'll put together any more drives. Besides, keeping the drives to a decent size (5-8 cars/all Subarus), and getting everyone on the same page about the drive is akin to herding cats...
...you get the people who want to invite their "driver friend" (who's usually one of the people who can't keep up/wreck trying), or people who can't pick up the pace to keep the group together on a nice clean road...but insist on staying in their position...

Also, a lot of the "city" people seem to have a problem realizing that the cows have every right to stand in the middle of the road (most of the land is open rangeland), and that, just because there is an empty field by the side of the road, it doesn't mean that it's public property that can be turned into an instant rally-x course (yes, I've seen that happen too).

All of the stuff listed above is why I much prefer to organize TSD rallies.
First of all, everyone is assigned speeds that are reasonable and proper for the roads, secondly participants are seperated by one or two minutes, which means we avoid big high speed parades and the problems of following too closely.
The biggest problem is not enough people wanting to participate, which is again the opposite situation from the problem with "group drives".
But I have started working on this year's Redwood Rendezvous, so people who want in on that one should start thinking about it....

I think this year the dirt will be less than previous years, I'm thinking about a route that only takes one tank of gas for a change, and will probably offer fully paved alternate routes too, so go ahead- bring the sti
