Someone Tried to Jack My Car!

Just a warning to San Jose WRX owners out there...

The incident occurred on Wednesday at 11:30PM in north San Jose. The car alarm chirped twice, so I looked outside and saw an older model dark colored mini-van alongside my car. They probably saw me and SLOWLY rolled away...the perpetrator was inside the van and working from the front passenger seat. He didn't even get out in his attempt to open my door!

When I went outside to check, I didn't see any visible marks of intrusion, no marks on the car, etc. It wasn't until yesterday morning that I found the mark -- they tried to stick something in between the window and the rubber moulding.

I'm not sure if they were trying to steal the car or just take whatever was inside but this is a very disturbing event for me. You guys should be careful where your car is parked, alarm or not.

Where exactly was this? I am kind of paranoid and would like to know if it is close to my hood.

isn't that the old fashion way to open the car door. I think they are just amatures
cos there are many ways to pop into the car

This was near Hwy680 and Hostetter Avenue.

I don't think they were amateurs either. The fact that they can work from inside the van and be so calm in their "get away" when spotted indicates (to me) that they have been in these situations before.

My room is located right above my car, 20ft away if it's parked alongside the curb, 10ft away if it's on the driveway. If I hadn't open my window right when the alarm chirped to see the van parked next to my car, I would've thought it was a fluke/false alarm.

Anyhow, a police report will be filed...not that it would do any good, but perhaps a SJPD patrol car might actually come by every blue moon.

I know! I see WRX's around my neighborhood all the time. Preston lives near us too. That's why I felt compelled to warn you guys.

I'm sure those thieves have been rolling through the area looking for cars to break into or jack.
