in fact, i think that these people are smart, for working the system. Come on people, we pay assloads of money to our lawmakers, who are the laziest bithches of them all. no doubt.

random thought: what if we were to 'randomly' test these people getting support? like actually check stuff, like drug screening, who has xbox 360, ps3 and a 58" plasma, 2 ipads, etc. it'd be interesting to note the results.
Seriously.... I'd love to read those stats. How much time people spend playing video games or watching movies.

You can't blame it all on the system. I do put a lot of fault in the system... just read what I was saying about my own personal experience. I consider myself a very hard worker. Hell I'm still here at work now and EVERYONE else is gone. That's how it is most nights. I will work until it's done. If I'm working on my car or out in the yard... I might drag *** starting it but once I Get out there I will bust my *** until it's done. 2 hours or 20 hours. When we pulled my caddy apart I was out there friday night until the wee morning hours alone getting **** ready. Then I was out there at 8am and didn't crawl out from under the car until near midnight. People can call me a procrastinator but you'd be hard pressed to find someone that would tell you I'm not a worker. Hell I'm the fattest one of the guys I snowboard with and I'm usually the last one off the hill.

Anyways... point being... I fell into the trap of the system and got lazy and just took the hand outs. Drank my coffee. Watched TV and raised my daughter. I feel blessed beyond all things that I spent the first year of my daughters life as her primary care. Not many fathers can say that. But the point is... yes the system is flawed but the blame lies 100% with me. I could have gone to school sooner. I could have gotten a job sooner. I could have done more legwork. More reading. More studying. Etc. It was my choice to take my daughter to the beach a couple times a week and sit there with a cup of coffee in my hand enjoying my time with my daughter on tax payer dollars. (taxes which I paid in to for 10 years by the way. LOL).

See my point. Flawed system. But we have only our own integrity to blame for not taking advantages of the opportunities given to us.

You have no facts to back up your claims. I never denied that people work the system here. I believe you see things but your perception doesn't make it fact. Whatever dude, I have no proof that people who drive escalades aren't working the system so the debate is futile. Next time you post stuff that you cant back up that is slanderous to a community all I ask is that you post up the facts to back up your claim other than the fact that you say you saw/see it.
Actually dude I happen to live in the middle of the fields in watsonville. I live on the Santa Cruz county line. My only white neighbor is an 80 year old farmer that's never around anymore. I wake up every day and wave to the guys on the tractors or picking flowers when I get in to my car. I drive through watsonville on the daily. I work in Salinas.

It's not just perception... it's what's happening. If you can't see that then I'm very sorry.

Is it slanderous to a community? Probably. Does that make it any less true. Nope. Like I said, lots of GREAT people in this community. Lots. I've walked out with cold beers in hand many a time...

My intentions and my statement if read in context was not slanderous toward any community except for those members that I was pointing towards. It would be like trying to say that Salinas doesn't have a gang problem. Does that mean that Salinas is nothing but gang bangers??? Despite public perception it's a VERY small percentage. But that doesn't make it any less a problem. Hell I thought Salinas was like a mexican version of compton but Salinas is mostly hard working ag workers and good decent people. I love it here. Same goes for watsonville.

Do I have numbers for people abusing the system. Nope. But that does not mean it's not happening and happening regularly.

You made a statement and shaped your thought process based on an assumption and based on your own personal experience... how is that any different than what I did? You assumed a lot about my perspective that you have no idea about.

Want a number... Watsonville is 67.67% hispanic.

I have zero ill will toward the community. I have a great respect for anyone that's working to make their way in life. I have worked, lived, and been friends with mexicans my entire life. I find for the most part the heritage is very kind, hard working, family orientated and generous. Wish I could say the same for every culture I've been around.

And yes, they probably were illegals!
Agree.

The woman digging out of my trash today couldn't speak a lick of English... That recycling money should have been going to the state. But, instead it was stolen from an illegal who doesn't even deserve to be in this country. I could try telling them to leave my recycling alone, but how can I when they don't even understand me?!

I'm sick of illegals taking our jobs, and living off welfare.... As a nation we should put a cap on how many children you are allowed to bear. I will go further and say, we should only hire those who are born on American soil. I believe American born citizens should have priority over immigrants while applying for an job, "First come, first serve."

Yeah, I'm mad. However, I have a good reason! I do have a BA. Why should companies pay me more money because I'm college educated person, when they can out-source or pay an illegal to work for less?! What a waste of my time and money. What I should have done is kept my current job at the time and never gone to college at all. In this economic climate it's not wise to take out student loans, you will just be further in debt. Moreover, once you graduate from college there is no guarantee you will find work anyway...

The actual unemployment rate is actually a lot higher than the estimated 10%. In fact, the 10% is only taking into account people who are still receiving checks. Therefore, the unemployment numbers are higher than we previously thought. This is an lack of transparency.

There is a lot of stiff competition for jobs right now. Because the cost of living has risen, people who should be in retirement are now back in the work force.

The elitist and bourgeoisie class are getting richer. The middle-class is dead.

What's worse is a growing trend that businesses are refusing to hire the unemployed. Read this. Businesses are refusing to hire the unemployed, commission told - latimes.com

What ever happened to the "American Dream"? It used to be with a little hard work and some luck you could achieve anything. Now, it's a challenge to get work...

You guys are off your rocker!
I don't have a problem with it, but watsonville area has a ton of illegals, and it's no surprise that it has to do with all the farming there. Thats just how it is. Anyone who denies there is a lot of gang activity in the area needs to wise up, and check the shooting #'s for Salinas/Watsonville and compare them against any other city of similar size. But ya I do know exactly what you mean ONEMAN, the 300c's/merc's/escalades that are likely owned by gangsters. I noticed this when I moved to Marina/Worked in Wastsonville for last year. Anyways I think JuanitoBUrrito needs to chill out, there is a lot of welfare/gang activity in that area, don't worry that crap offends me 2.

Boo ****ing hoo...

If you believe that I'm a racist, ageist, sexist, etc-ist, you're a ****ing moron.
You clearly have poor comprehension skills as I did not say that every person that works in/for a union is a stooge.

If you believe that being union is best thing since sliced bread, that if the union was not there you'd be screwed, then yes, you are a stooge.

Why?
Because you are part of the bull**** "us vs them" relationship that stooges and ****ty managers create.
You are the part of problem.
Your average corporation looks at you as a tool; as way to generate $$$.
Guess what?
So does your union; you are simply a tool to suck $$$ from to further the union's (usually socialist) agenda.

I have worked for unions and have been in management, so I have a pretty good handle on both sides of the coin.

And have a nice day.
