So who has SBC DSL and how do you like it??

When I moved into my apartment a few months ago, there wasn't much else available, but SBC yahoo so I went ahead and hooked it up. Ever since then, it's been acting like dialup. It would go down for a few minutes sometimes and sometimes for a few hours. It's been pretty flakey and I know of some others who are experiencing the same thing. This is in the San Jose area. I'm contemplating whether or not 2 switch to cable cuz this is getting ridiculous. SBC Yahoo sux major a$$ around here. Just needed 2 vent.

I have SBC Yahoo DSL and the only problem I had was the initial service was not turned on. It took a couple days after what they stated, but after that, it's been pretty flawless *knock on wood*. I have friends though, who have problems with SBC, so I guess it just depends.

I used to have SBC about 3-4 years ago and that was pretty decent. Now, it's just crap. At least where I am.

I might have 2 switch up to comcast....I just want a constant internet connection. It sux DL'ing something only to find out that my connection went down and I didn't DL ****.

Mine in Mountain View is great, especially for $26.99 a month. I used to have cable modem...and the Mountain View network is (was?) amazing...regularly could get >>1MB/sec

SBCYAHOO DSL sucks, I had it when I lived in vacaville last year and it was slow as **** and it always disconnected itself.

I Have cable @ my new place in orinda and it is a LOT better, plus you don't have to "log on" to it, its a TRUE always on connection.

You don't have to log on to SBC DSL either if you have a router. I have heard better reviews of cable service though, I may switch to cable after DSL is up, just to try it out.

cable >>>>> dsl

unless of course you liev right across the street from the server, in which case you'll get great speeds

Go for it. Cable is more expensive though. But worth it if you need to be on the up and up all the time.

I had SBC DSL service before and it was ok. It wasn't the best but it was bearable. I was having the same issues you are having now and it was because I was further out from the loop then I should be. Anyway, Comcast is having a special. If you tell them you are switching from DSL (of any kind) to Comcast service, you would only pay $29.99/month for a year. So you may want to consider it. I just switched last week and loving it. I'm averaging anywhere from 2.5 mbps to 3.5 mbps...

I've had DSL for probably 6 or 7 years now...

It's been fairly stable for me, I've just recently upgraded to their Expert package(1.5mbits to 6mbits down/ 384 up) I'm getting 4660 down / 504 up... not bad for about 40 bucks a month...
