It's supposed to be based off Romero's Day Of The Dead. Glad this one's actually directed by Romero, unlike the Dawn of the Dead remake.

guess you didnt see the his DAWN OF THE DEAD...
i'm a board with who deals with POST APOCALYpTIP WORLD (PAW) and zombie survival and stuff like that. plus zombie flicks.
but man, i rented his DOTD and that movie sucked big time.
maybe i was spoiled by the recent special effects and stuff especially with the DOTD 2004 (btw, the director of that flick also directed the subaru wrx commercial that appears in the first 10 minutes of the movie)
it seemed like GAR just walked through this movie in his sleep.
only thing i hated in the DOTD 2004 is that the zombies are olympic sprinters...
but hope fully, special f/x should be wayyyyyy better in LOTD and the story line should be better too...

Not sure about these remakes.
Romero made history with a African American as the male lead in Night of the living dead, the original. He pushed the limits of sound on day of the dead, this was the one in the bunker in Florida. The Canadian mall was unique in effects when they split that one guy in half. BTW it stank to high heaven because the refrigerator that they kept the pig guts in shut off over the weekend. LOL
Am I a fan.. nahh I just think he pushed the limits along with a number of other great film makers out there.
My best top list of all time great horror films:
1. Night of the living dead in black and white
2. Halloween with Jamie Lee
3. The Fog
4. The Exorcist
5. Texas Chain Saw Massacre "Original"
6. American Werewolf in London
7. The last house on the left
8. The Hills have eyes
9. The Thing "The original"
10. Resident Evil
Ok the last one is a mix of Sci fi and Horror, but still not bad at all.
The list is also not is order from best to worst either. they are just good flicks that changed the way we see movies today. The pushed some boundary weather special effects, casting, or just the story line.
For those who saw the original Texas they only used 20 oz. of blood in the whole movie, yet at the time they wanted to give it an X rating. Why because it was so out there that no one knew what to expect. It sent shock waves through the movie industry.
Ok I will get off my soap box now..

The first DOTD wasn't great, but I'll watch anything if I hear the word Zombie.
Last year was a good year for Zombie movies too, we had Dawn of the Dead 2004, Shaun of the Dead, a Resident Evil movie, and I'm sure it wasn't released last year but go check out "Versus". Bad-*** JDM zombie movie. Most Blockbusters should have it. Except the one in Bay Point.

is VERSUS subtitled?
i mentioned in that PAW/zombie forum, that i dont care about zombies that get smart...
as long as they aint sprinters that can run faster than me... lol...
in ShAUN, i was cracking up how they were able to fool the zombies by just walking like them... of course being in england, it also made me laugh, then mad, when the 2 of them couldnt shoot that rifle...
