so what's your excuse for not voting today (if you were eligible to vote)?

So in other words, you're all for the creation of a feudalistic system - perhaps you're rich enough to fall in the ruling class, huh?
Both Carly Fee(except for the rich)orina and Meg Witless were simply trying to buy their way into office in order to give their rich friends more money and more power. I wouldn't be at all shocked when either of them support tax breaks for businesses who increase their bottom line by shipping jobs overseas.
That's how one of them made her money...
...on the backs of the working class people.
Hopefully the news won't have changed by morning...
...we don't need any more job losses in this state.

Because by virtue of becoming decriminalized state-wide (which failed) more suppliers would be able to get things going, dramatically increasing supply which in turn would lower prices. One article on the yes on 19 site speculated that ounce costs would drop on average to $200 with a $50 dollar tax. This is still $50 less than the current average medical price per ounce ($300).
Scarcity is clearly the driving force behind the high prices of marijuana (not difficulty to grow). How else could a plant referred to colloquially as "weed" yield almost 1/4 the price of gold by weight?
With this in mind, don't you think the drop in prices from greater supply would outweigh the relatively small tax?

Just wait until you get cholangiocarcinoma and cant breathe because of the bituminous oil production on the Athabasca. Canada has one of the biggest "clean energy" issues in the world.

I also voted yes, but a part of me is glad it's not passing RIGHT NOW. That proposal is so flawed and there's so many holes with it. I'm all for legalizing the chronic for the potential billions in tax revenue/fines (and less bullcrap arrests), but let's get it right the 2nd time and polish it up, folks.

Oh, and for the OP: **** you. I do not need an "excuse" or a "reason" for not voting. It is a right to vote, and I can skip it if I want to. It is not your place to question that, so get over yourself ***hole.

I've always felt that if someone is too stupid to understand the importance of voting, then I don't want their vote anyway.
It's not about democratic duty. The I-dont-need-to-vote attitude perpetuates the fallacy that what is rational for you is also rational for society as a whole (think tragedy of the commons). If you can't comprehend that, then you probably shouldn't be making important decisions like choosing California's next governor.
Edit: I do however agree with Ihearte30 that is important to abstain on issues you are unsure un uninformed about.

Get over yourself. Voting does not mean you are more intelligent then anybody, and it definitely does not mean that you understand the issues. It does NOT make you a better American...just a self righteous one. Judging someone based on whether they vote is akin to judging someone based on their appearance.
You strike me as the type of person that buys into the propaganda behind an election so that a corporate/private/political interest can take advantage of your stupidity. You smug "I voted" types are the types of ***holes that sway a vote after watching a couple commercials, and then claim that you are educated an issue.
Believe it or not some people have real life going on. If you do not like that then **** you.

Dude, seriously, you need to calm down man... This IS NOT NASIOC and we really don't tolerate that kind of "NASIOCISM" on i-club, especially in the bay area where we're all pretty close knit and know one another in real life. I know everyone has bad days, I know some subjects get people roaring, and I know it's hard to translate online statements into real life statements, and I don't want to sound like some judge or something, I'm just stating that we really don't need that kind of hostility in BAIC.
I know we have our drama and such, but to outright attack people like you did in your last few posts in this thread is not cool. I've never had a problem with you nor do I have one with you now, I'm just stating this so everyone understands the level of friendship we share in this forum. If you want to go tell people to go die in a fire, go f' themselves, etc, (I know that's not what you said, it was just stated for example purposes) there is a PERFECT forum for you, and it's called NASIOC, particularly NASIOC Off Topic (but is not limited to that forum alone).
Damn, I'm getting old...
