I really like the Husky SMR510. I even have an offer of a test ride on one. I don't dare though 'cos I know it will cost me $8000

A guy on SBR test rode both and reckoned that for regular riding the DRZ 400 is a better bet anyway. He said the Husky is a no-compromise race bike with higher running costs and cutting edge performance. Conversely, the DRZ is just a very solid reliable machine which would probably be better for my purposes.

I was looking at the DRZ400SM, still want one bad, but went with a scooter mainly because my wife wants to learn to ride too and for getting back and forth to work, it was cheaper and easier. I'll save some money and wait till after I take the MSF course to upgrade.

So last night, I rode from Sunnyvale to northwest Oakland and it was downright frightening. If that were my commute, or my commute were anything like that, there is no way I would do it on a bike even though because of the bike I actually made my appointment. Also, I don't think I will be riding across a bridge again any time soon.. WOW!

So yeah, where and how you ride makes a huge difference. My bike did great, and on calculation of fuel usage I got 38mpg on this tank. Hard riding, at "normal freeway" speeds. Probably do a lot better if I were cruising below 5krpm.

we're already a socialist country... just don't get the benefits.

Our taxes are just going to keep growing and growing.

As for what the government can do... they can stop spending money oversees and start focusing more on a self stabilized economy. We produce a LOT of oil. We produce enough oil and can produce more, we can also get in to openning markets like china is doing, africa, etc. Stop relying on OPEC so much. Need to open our eyes and see that none of these countries are going to do **** for us when we need it. Call me selfish but I think we need to work on america for a while. Our healthcare system is shot. Our education system is becoming a global joke. Much of that will change when we don't have a 5 year old as a president.

So to tell you the truth I don't really know but there are steps that can be taken to regulate these oil companies and invest in our own economy.

I'm not a political science major but if you like I'll go waste a semester taking some classes and talk the same **** I'm talking now just with bigger words.

Absolutely. The best mpg I ever got was while waiting for a point to drop off my license. I also think that the rider's size has some impact, especially on the lower capacity bikes, because rider weight can easily be 1/3 of the total weight. I'm a skinny dude so I think my bike has it easy.

My commute situation is almost as good as it could be. San Jose to Palo Alto on 280N in the carpool lane. The return journey sometimes involves Page Mill/Skyline/9 - great way to unwind.

that's a sunny outlook to have on life.

as a whole, is your life better or worse than it was 1 year ago? 5 years ago? 10 years ago? if it is worse, how so?
