Makes sense that someone was messing with Crabtree as losing $16 million guaranteed is quite a substantial amount.

while it would be nice to have him and contribute, it's becoming evident the Crabtree doesn't want to be in SF.
Well, let's write off this year's #1 pick as a loss, take our contract offer off the table, and if we don't sign/trade him by Oct 20, then screw him! Don't interview or allow him to work out--Karma's a female dog! Let's watch him twist in the wind...

While Crabtree remains unsigned five long months after being drafted 10th overall, the 49ers have moved on without him. Boy, have they.
Crabtree is missing the start of something special. Pity the poor fool? Nope. He could be here. He could be a rich fool. He's not. He's Ferris Bueller, cavorting elsewhere while school is in session.

But, hey, the 49ers had to play without Crabtree. Big void? Not really. His leverage shrinks with
every win, if he even had any left once the season started.

The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly filed tampering charges against the New York Jets, relating to the holdout of rookie wide receiver Michael Crabtree(notes).
Taken with the 10th overall pick in April's NFL draft, Crabtree has rejected the Niners' contract offers and is threatening to reenter next year's draft.
Reason for the grievance: The 49ers may believe the Jets contacted Crabtree's agent, Eugene Parker, to let him know they'd be interested in trading for his rights, or in drafting him in 2010 with a better salary than San Francisco is offering.
The Jets, through a team spokesman, denied the allegations.
The NFL's trade deadline is Oct.20, while the 49ers must either sign Crabtree by Nov.19, or surrender his rights, putting him back into the draft pool for 2010.

Crabtree may be a great receiver and could have been a great addition to our team but pulling these shenanigans before even signing with us? Sorry, but I'm no longer interested in your BS.

Damn, I hope the niners can trade for a better draft pick.... Wut a ****ing waste of a first round. Dude needs to show case his talent and compete in the NFL, not sit and cry and pout. Niners would be lucky for another first round pick.
Niners have 2 already for next years draft, if they have a 3rd, the team would be beastly in a couple more years.
I still think vernon davis needs to get the ball more. He should be # 1 on the team for catches. Just like a tony gonzales and jason witten. Big, huge, strong target. I haven't seen too much from the receivers besids Bruce (who will retire soon). So hopefully davis can get a pass every 6 or so downs. He can pwn any linebacker down the middle
