Question So it's time for the old Costco coupon tire decision...

And I can't decide between All Season and Summer. I need some Bay Area advice.

Quick, someone talk me out of summer tires...

I am looking at the S03's and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

I keep telling myself that we take the Blazer up to the snow so I don't need the A/S, but...

Does anyone have the Michelin's? Noise? Tramlining? Not sure it matters...

help.

If you still have your stock rims, get summer tires for your aftermarket ones and swap during the winter.

i agree...that's probably the best option. get rid of the re92's when you can and put on some decent winter tires.

as for s03's, they're great tires...with the coupon, it's a decent deal.

I love the Pilot sport "regulars" for Summer tires, awesome grip, they say they are a little noisier than some of the others, but nothing I have had a problem with.
However, they are pretty expensive themselves, I don't know what kind of deal Costco has, but last I checked at Tire rack, the Pilot Sport A/S model is hella expensive.

I've got nearly 30,000 on a set of Sumitomo HTR+ which seem to be a pretty decent all season tire, not the stickiest, but they do have a forgiving break-away at the limits, in that regard they are probably a bit safer than the Michelins, which have higher grip, but when they do let go they are a lot more difficult to reign in.

The best thing about the Sumitomos- only about $65 per shoe in stock size.

But for serious driving I'd strongly suggest some 17" rims and the best tires to fit on them that you can possibly afford.

dude that place is a rip off.

I just went to check it out cause I have $100 gift certificate to spend so $80 off tires would be nice cause it'd be $180.

Anyways....freakin S03's. $20 cheaper at tire rack and that's without a coupon.

So that's $100 savings.......screw the $80's off. Only benefit is shipping.

I was thinking of getting some 235/45/17's for the wagon. probably get RE750's. Last a bit longer than the s03's and handle pretty good.

Costco includes mounting. So with a coupon you're getting free mounting over tirerack.

I wouldn't trust those guarillas with my rims.....all I ever hear is people getting their stuff jacked up by those guys.

I am looking at buying some 17's and getting them jacked up at cosco is not tops on my list.

But that is good to know since mounting runs about $60.

Thanks, guys. I guess I should have been a little more specific. I have stock rims and no $$$ for 17's. So these will be the one and onlys. I might need them to do everything, that is why I am concerned about summer tires. Do you think I can get away with it in the Bay Area? Has anyone been unfortunate enough to get stuck testing the S03's in icy/cold conditions?

Has anyone actually driven the Michelin's?

All things considered, Costco isn't a bad deal. I have never had problems with them... but with stock rims, I'm not too worried about a scratch or two.

Mounting
Lifetime balancing
Lifetime rotation
Lifetime flat repair
Lifetime air pressure checks
New rubber valve stem
Costco Wholesale's road hazard warranty

if you want tires for lots of conditions I like the RE750's. They last longer than the S03's and handle great in wet and dry conditions. Not quite the level of the s03 but still very good. And since you'll have them on the stock tires I don't think you'll benefit from all the s03 has to offer. plus they are about 25% cheaper.

Yeah, I was looking at those, but I can't get them in 225/50/16's...

yeah they don't come in the size I want either.

235/45/17.

But I don't know how well those clear on wagons anyways.
