So I'm in the market for a netbook...

So I'm currently looking into getting a netbook. I saw a few of them at Fry's yesterday and wanted to get your guy's opinion on the good ones out there

I'm looking to spend less than $500. Not looking for top of the line netbook, just something to surf the web, chat, watch movies and listen to music.

Any recommendations is welcome

Here's what I'm looking at:

Acer Aspire One

Asus Eee

MSI wind netbook

I have the hp mini w 10.1 inch screen, 16gb ssd, 1gb ram. It's pretty ****ing sweet for portability. I normally use an x60 lenovo, but during xmas shopping I just bought myself one unexpectedly. Have barely used it (just opened it right now using it for first time in 2 weeks). Was thinking about selling it cause I'm broke but I don't think I can part with it. You can boot os off sd cards with it, pretty schweet.

I love my acer. I am using it every day and using it right now. Bought a few of them a few days before xmas and they were a bit cheaper than your link now. In january they were 199 :/ so i should have waited but all is good.

hp is ****. hardware will fail on you once the warranty is over. its happened several time. asus with celeron = bad news. my experience with the celeron processor is really bad, its one of the low end cpus. id stay away from it if i were you. the MSI and Acer are about head to head. over anything though, id personally go with the lenovo. theres a lot of rep behind the name and i've used their systems and really like the design and simplicity. if i had only remembered about IBM and Lenova b4 i bought my stupid hp for college....

I don't really see the point of these things - why not get a 12" or 13" laptop? It would be much more functional.

I like mine because it is light weight and i am supposed to be on a lift restriction. I also use it a lot in my room sitting in bed so much easier and doesnt get as hot as my other laptops. Does what i need it to do and light for a cheap price and easy carry around. When all you need to do is look at the web and chat it works great. I store music and pics on it. And i dont know being a girl i guess i got the pink one and its "cute" hahaha. oh and it runs very smooth for me!!!! oh and makes it nice for traveling.. like on a trip somewhere where you are limited to the weight restrictions.

I can only answer for me.. so thats why i got one.

I was gonna get the acer aspire but ultimately went with the MSI wind. 10.1 inch screen, 160gb hard drive, 6-cell battery and the mouse pad had a much better feel for 349.99 at micro center

the HP is way overpriced for the stuff you get, though i will admit it looks alot nicer.
