Unhappy So I replaced my oil pick up tube :( today...

So last Monday as I was pulling out from my work I got my oil light on... Pulled over and checked my oil.. Or if I was dripping oil.. All fine! I had just done an oil change two weeks ago... So I drove it home 12 miles...

Forward to today...

I get my oil pick up tube.. Sure enough the oem one was fried.. Cracked right before the flange.. Normal for my year car (06 STI).. Replaced it, filled oil up again and still the oil light was on.. Reset my ecu and STILL my light is on.. Idles a bit rough and it turned off on me.... Kinda weird cause when the car is sitting (while engine on) and I press the clutch in the rpms drop... My car turned off twice..

I haven't driven the car since the day the light came on to avoid ****ing anything up... Just scared that it might of done something serious already...

Any suggestions? I'm afraid to even boost.. Looks like the boost isn't all there too... Blown turbo?

I'm gonna have to get gst to look at my car if I don't figure this out ASAP... Looks like the bus for me again to work

We have personally seen either 5 or 6.

To the OP when you dropped the pan and cleaned it to reseal it did you see any copper flakes?

There was flakes inside the oil pan, we did clean the oil pan thoroughly though.

No Mike... There was little chips at the bottom.. Nothing big just fine metal at the very bottom and not alot of. The bottom of the pick up tube was punctured too (the screen)... Now I need to also found a broken motor mount on my driver side and my front o2 sensor dented wich is probably why that also went out... I need to get the car to you guys..

I hate to say it but it sounds like you hurt the mains! Find a oil pressure gauge and slap it on and see what the pressure shows, chances are you've clearanced the main's!

Sounds like you probably damaged some bearings at this point and you're not able to maintain oil pressure at idle because the bearing clearance is much looser. Generally by the time the oil pressure light comes on, the damage was already done. Sorry to say but it sounds like its time for a rebuild.

We've personally seen 4-5 failed OEM pickups.

Give me a call and we can go over the specifics. A very rough estimate is around $6-$8k.
