So i got a speeding ticket

I was driving back from Daly City from a "breaksfast at a chinese restaurant", just cruising around 60-65 mph and max 75mph i got PULL OVER BY THE CHP!!! It was a normal traffic flow TOO! AHH The CHP claims that he was followed me from John Daly Blvd to Geneva 2-3 miles long, 280 north on the freeway. THERE was a SS impala next to me, which was also a blue car drove faster than me. I swear this CHP have a bad eyes site!! I slow down too to 50 mph.

When he pulled me over, he gave me a reason "you're speeding blah blah blah....85 mph or over" I was hoping that he would give me a chat on how i was driving to let me loose easily....BUT he just silently gave me a ticket!!! And just left without other comments or "safety rules". I think that CHP was picking on me because he couldn't get any other people. Then on my ticket, it said approx 80 speeding. what the heck! And, i also missed the JDM meeting because of this... AHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT A BAD DAY!!!

ughhh Am i suppose to go to the court or wait for a letter in the mail?? this is my first ticket...dunno what to do.... How much does a speeding ticket cost anyways...?? does going to the court help lessen the price to pay for this "slow" speeding ticket?? any suggestion!?

By the way, i saw a silver STi going 280 south from john daly. I waved at you, you waved back, then you zoomed SUPER FAST. Just want to know if you're here....SO I CAN SAY HI!

Sorry to hear that man, but you gotta fight the ticket. I have the "fight the ticket" book if you wanna borrow it. Good info in the book.

I got one that's 92 mph a couple years back and it was like over $300 bucks. It was in Vacaville and I wrote a letter to contest it, failed and so I had to pay up. If it were in S.F., I'd go to court.

Good luck man.

If you are absolutely sure that you were not going above 75 mph, and the chp truly was being a butthole, then fight it. There should be a way for you to poke holes in the story. Ask him about the cars that were passing you. Before you ask him that, ask him what lane were you in (if middle or right, it may help especially if traffic hour). Recall the situation and put the cop in a bind or make him trip over himself in court.

I would fight it, if he didn't have any dialogue with you he probably wont remember the offence when it comes up so may not show for it (instant win for you).

If not, call and register for traffic school and get the point off your license and pay the fine.

I got pulled over too!
But I talked my way out of 2 moving violations of " Speeding over 80+mph and wreckless driving". Instead, She gave me a ticket for tailgating.. Now I have to sign up for traffic school.

I got lucky today. Heading east towards Roseville, doing 78+ in a 65. Saw the cop in my rearview. Coasted down to 65. He went right on by.

Thanks, Johnny Law. I do appreciate the break.

Oh that sucks big time man... sorry to hear that.
If you decide not to fight the ticket, go to traffic school. It's a fairly good deal if you think about it.
Hope things turn out OK.

Fight it of course, written testimonial is best. Cops don't get paid to write a little essay thing to a judge, but they do to show up for a court appearance. Also even if you fail to win, you might be able to talk the $$ down as long as you say somethin' like "I'm goin' to a UC, and I'm low on $$ and my dad just got laid off blah blah blah" It works.

But i wasn't speeding 80+...........................the most i was doing was 75 and that was trying to change lane to the right. I know the idiot cop was doing 90 when he pull up to me! he was also tailgating me too!

What you mean by writen testimonial? I type a essay of what happen before i appear to court?

BTW.... how long do i have to wait in line? 20 min? 1hr? 4hr? the whole day?
