I suppose Silke doesn't have insurance that you can jump onto?

My wife will lose her benefits at the end of April, so we are gonna have to jump onto my companies benefits in May.

Silke jumped onto my insurance, since hers was a single-payer option with Kaiser to which she received a cash contribution from her employer. It'd be just like signing up for health care coverage all over again - although as long as there's no lapse, I don't think they'd ding me for pre-existing conditions. If there was a lapse, that might complicate things.

Thanks guys, and I have to thank everyone for their well wishes. I think the largest thing I'm going to miss about that job is the Subaru Bay Cruise that's happening on the 19th of the month - unless I can find a decent paying job at another Subaru dealership within the next two weeks!!!

Aw crap - sorry this happened to you too. You and your parts know-how got my little car back on the road when other parts suppliers couldn't help. I hope you find something that works for you pretty quick.

You're more than welcome to call me. I sort of have some experience in the matter.

You? Experience?

Oh, that's right, you headed the Performance arm of Frank's Irvine Subaru so long ago...

...and now you're the parts MANAGER at Stevens Creek Subaru. I think your reputation speaks for itself, however. As long as you're around, there's a place for the Subaru Bay Area community to have someone competent and knowledgeable to supply local parts.

I got my layoff paperwork last Friday, signed & delivered my offer letter on the new job last nite. Sux no big severance package, but I'd rather have that than be job hunting/on unemployment for months.

My whole building got it's layoff notice in October 08 we got a really good severance & "transitional pay" package for still working 6 months even though we were going to lose our jobs to Texas. Lucky for me I start a new job on Monday with better pay all though the commute will be tough until we move closer. I get to be a bum for a whole week. . . just waiting for my checks now.

FWIW, Ryan is a great person to go to in these matters.

Greg,

I work in HR as well as Finance and am just learning all about the new COBRA rules included in the February stimulus package. Below are a couple of links that you will find very helpful.

The good news is that you should only have to pay 35% of the monthly COBRA premium

When I get to work tomorrow I can forward you a whole pile of information that I just got from our health insurance broker.
