Snowing in Sierra already tonight?
#46
ok so i live in Reno and its been pretty cold up here and infact on Saturday night it started snowing, Mt. Rose got hit pretty good as a couple of friends and i went up to the top...it was like 19 degrees at 9 at night, apparently this is suppose to be a good winter as the southern hemisphere had record breaking years in terms of downfall, so hopefully that translates up here for us, i know alot of us Reno guys board at N* and some of us have night passes to Boreal...if your ever in town and want to board hit us up as most of us are always down

reno runs suck right now. walmart runs have to be timed....
i live in truckee johnny. glenshire really. i just tell everyone i live in lake tahoe....
04caliwrx,
they exist. just not that many. and the cost of living is no better here than the Bay. the Ritz is hiring over 300 people, many full time. A job you could commute or tele-commute is ideal. i have many friends who split time elsewhere.
IT jobs are up here, but you are a SLAVE to earn good money. i run a podunk network in a dirt bike shop, and make very little for it in comparison to, say, the rest of the Bay Area. BUT, i make a ton of sacrafices, and have spent the last 16 years getting to the point where i can make good money up here.
and trade traffic, etc for this? again? not sure i could do it. i think i would move to another state, in the mountains, that no one has discovered yet (read:sunset magazine).
anyway, do we have enough to have our own region on i-club. Tahoe/Reno Area? then we could have TRAIM's!!!!!
we should all meet for a beer/wine/soft drink some time....

yes, i am a NEWBIE member on both.
i would love to come down on thurs nights, but it is hard with a kiddo. if there were enough folks up here to dork out about subies with, i would happily meet up here more often. just a geography/time thing for me.
AND i am a die hard i-clubber. just where my roots are....

Still? It about time though, that stretch of 80 was falling apart.
Its still funny when you're headed to CA from NV, you don't even need a Welcome to CA sign, just feel where the pavement goes from smooth to garbage. It literally happens at the state line.

i think i will wait though, because even my beginning-of-season board doesnt need that kind of abuse. awesome that they have a foot of snow though. the only thing that would suck is if we have a couple hot days toward the end of october like we usually do.

yes cali. that was sort of what i was getting at. i would be in the same boat if i had stayed in the Bay 16 years ago.
keep your eyes open. the job market once this silly economy (if i should say) gets back on its feet, this place will be booming. we ar at 18k pop, and our 10 year outlook is 28k. Then they cut off development. EVERYTHING is going to the internet right now, and the job pool is broadening as flatland folk need amenities. we are officially a suburb of SF and Sac.
anyway, if you want it badly enough, it is VERY doable...
