"sun-cure" works great on my skimboard dings, you apply it and leave it in the sun for 10-30 minutes, hard, smells like hell (that means its strong) just sand it down.
of course only do this to a snowboard that you dont care for much, or practice on another board maybe? should work though.
or just get an estimate haha

It's really gonna depend how bad it is. Repairs are priced by "labor estimate" on a case-by-case basis, similar to what a body shop would tell ya for collision work. Without seeing for myself, I'm guessing you're looking to start at the $40 range. Full snowboard tunes are around 40 bucks, and base repair includes most of the elements of a tune (i.e. belt or stone grind, P-tex, wax). Then, they obviously have to fix the gouge (epoxy, maybe weld or patch).
Bottom line: Ya gotta bring your board in for the tech to look at... as already mentioned.
If you're in SanJo: REI on Saratoga, Mel Cotton's, or Helm (also on Saratoga).
Hope this helps, bruddah. G'luck.

P-tex won't attach to the core, you can p-tex it and it might hold for a couple days but eventually it will bubble and/or pop out.
You'll need to either have the core-shot epoxied or "base-welded" which is a process the pros have to deal with this sort of damage.
