Smog check needed - San Jose area
my apologies in advance, I don't have all that much time to search before posting this...
I was curious if anyone knows a good smog shop in the south bay area possibly?
Visual is most likely a no go for me, but I'm pretty sure I'll pass sniffer if my cat is hoootttttt....
not a star test required, any ideas? PM me or post please! I need it done by July 7th. I also have my stock dp and cbe if required, but don't really have the time or $ to switch them out, then back on...
I appreciate your thoughts/suggestions/advice as always.
I also have a special treat for someone that can help me!

Go here: Brightside Smog - San Jose, CA .
My Mazdaspeed Protege passed with a bunch of mods, even after a few other shops I went to wouldn't even hook my car up after popping the hood.

Said fail due to non-stock IC. (no carb# on it) doesn't matter if it passes sniffer.

FMICs are gonna be an instant fail. I asked a few different BAR employees in regards of putting STI TMICs on WRXs and I've gotten mixed answers. No one was willing to say it was legal but some would say its illegal unless there is a full STI swap in which case it would need to be reffed. Upon doing some research I found this
anyway theres a lot more http://www.bar.ca.gov/80_BARResource...egulations.pdf
Its on the last page. One thing Ive found is when it comes to BAR, the law is not up for your interpretation. What they say goes. You could argue that an intercooler isnt part of the emissions system but then theres this gem.
An intercooler helps by cooling the air and achieve greater volumetric efficiency therefore its related to air injection no?
Just swap your **** to stock and get it smogged. It literally takes a few hours. I do it everytime I have to smog my own car. Its the price we pay for modding our cars.
