Also, why edit out your question? Leaving your question to give context to the answers helps people in the future get their questions answered without having to make new posts.
I was thinking the same thing. Leave your questions up.

Oh, one more quick question...how often is SMOG required in NorCal? Probably depends on the county? I currently live in Imperial County (SoCal) and they only require SMOG when you transfer registered owners (buying/selling), but no SMOG again after that. That's why I have not really had to worry about SMOG until now...(moving to NorCal soon).

It's actually dependent upon, and varies based on, county within California. Some counties require you to SMOG yearly when you re-new your car's registration. Other counties (like the one I currently live in - Imperial County) require you only to SMOG your car one time - if/when you transfer ownership on the registration (when you first buy it). Hence the reason I have not ever had to worry about SMOG while living here in Imperial County.

I did a little digging on the CA DMV website and it is kind of hazy as to yearly SMOG regulations in San Francisco/San Mateo Counties.

So what it seems to me, there is no passing with a turbo back exhaust? A visual of how big the pipe is will give you a chance to fail now? A 4in pipe isn't THAT big haha

FWIW.... I passed at Stage II (Helix up-pipe, Ksai TBE, AP2).
Rally-armor skid plate (made visual "difficult") and removed the CAI.

CA requires a SMOG 6 years after the model year car you own and every 2 years after that, plus transfer of ownership if not a transfer between family members.

Counties can require more than that, but not less, because they're in California, and that's a state law. (And no county I know of requires more than that)

So if you have a 2005 model year car, you smog in 2011 and every following odd year.

Not in my county. I have never heard of this. Still never have to smog cars here.

Yeah each county is different. The general rule for smog regulations is what Concillian has stated.
