On a more serious note (sorry), we should never close our boarders. That's what America stands for and ironically that's why a lot of contries out there hate us. It's all about personal freedom and equal opportunity baby! Granted, now that the haters have become more bold and shed American blood on our own soil, we need to screen our guests a little more closely. Basically no terrorists allowed. Yes, this will hurt some feelings and people will cry "Pofiling". But we can't allow another 9/11.

Read this book:

Its not very PC, but it is an intelligently analytical elaboration from an essay Huntington did back in '93.

P.S. Go back to Europe or set up caves in Wisconsin

I can see both sides of this issue. Half my family are "Natives" (even though most all of us are immigrants), including the 2nd. President, John Adams; and the other half are Russian Jewish immigrants who came in the early 20th century.

but yeah, in light of reality, we should build walls north and south, and I agree with WREXXY about immigrants having to learn our language.

All nations restrict immigration, why shouldn't we?

also, the truth is that we as citizens must either defend ourselves from terrorism, or we must allow our government to strip away our freedoms.

one of these things will happen, and after Patriot Acts I & II, the latter has already begun.

It ain't the ACLU that's kept the border open the last 50 odd years.

The bottom line is this: California grows almost half the produce of the entire nation, including a lot of the REALLY lobor intensive crops like lettuce and strawberries.

Ever seen a field full of white folks?
...didn't think so.

You wanna pay $20 a pound for strawberries?
...didn't think so.

Fact is, economically, this state REQUIRES a large migrant labor force that can work for less than most americans can live on.

I know, I know... facts are boring. Shooting "tresspassers" is more entertaining.

yeah, I know, I manage a large hand car wash and detail center...

but it makes me ashamed of white people for not being willing to accept this kind of work...I mean, can't those guys with the "help me I'm homeless" people work the fields???

My Father is really conservative, he believes that anyone who doesn't work should be forced to wear bright orange vests, and be available to work if spotted anywhere outside.

I love having people from other countries come here, but I want them to do it legally. My grandmother came here after she escaped from a concentration camp in WWII. But she did it legally. We would not be as strong as we are today if it wasn't for the diversity that the U.S has. About the language thing. What I don't like is that many of the people that don't speak fluent english tend to get the jobs that need a person to speak fluent english. I would not go to Japan and get a job at a fast food restraunt and not be able to speak Japanese. And oh about the sniper thing, rabbid dogs would be more effective!

Immigration is the key to the nation's prosperity. Without an increasing population and economic market, America loses the drive that funds scientific, technological, and military research, social programs, even business growth, and thus supports our standard of living and position of global leadership.

By 2100, most of Europe's population will be half of what it is today. In that same time, Japan's population will be 1/4 its current size. In fact, the United States is THE ONLY industrialized nation in the world to maintain population growth. This is ONLY possible because of immigration - US residents have been reproducing at below the total fertility rate needed to offset death rates for decades now. Meanwhile, population centers in Asia and the Middle East will continue to grow, and India will soon replace China as the world's most populous nation. It's an indication of a massive shift in world paradigm, and if the US was as protectionist and xenophobic as most Europe states have historically been, we'd soon find ourselves in the periphery of the world stage.

man pole... lmao

if you ever go up to Vancounver look for the hot dog stand called "Mr Tube Steak"

this is played out. if you are all about isolationism, lock our borders and get your *** in the fields. or wash my car, clean my yard, or babysit for $50 a day.

one thing I do agree on... we should keep govt manuals, etc... in English. English should not be a forced thing for immigrants (do other countries force us to learn their language???)

But if people cant read a DMV pamphlet than it will be an impetus to learn the national language
