Since this is now the political forum: Immigration Q?
Since this has apparently become the political forum, I have a question.
Why should the U.S. allow immigration, and what controls (if any) should be in place (i.e. certain countries, health checks for immigrants, etc)?
I've just noticed an awful lot of people keep coming here, but I almost NEVER hear anyone say a positive thing about our country. Just look at a political forum... it's like a hate the U.S. club.

one of my biggest pet peeves is when people can't speak english and still think we should print everything in their language, on that note i think one requirement should be:
1. people should either know how to speak english when they come in.
2. or it should be mandatory that people are enrolled in an english class when their green cards are granted. then in a year or so they should have to take an english proficiency test proving that they can get by with out us having to spend our tax dollars printing everything in 20 languages. (oh, and they should be paying for the english classes and tests too)
p.s. i'm not hating on any one particular race. i'm just hating on spending my tax money on something that could be taken cared of from the get go.

Add that to the lack of cheap partying and it sounds worse. I think snipers every mile along the canadian and Mexican border would work. Kinda like T2 just knee cap trespassers.

i do have to add that without a lot of the immigrants our economy would be suffering. we wouldn't have people willing to do the work that is rarely appreciated, like picking our crops, working in our warehouses, etc... My intentions on the language barrier thing is definitely not made in the attempt to stop anyone who coming with the serious intention of making their lives a better. i'm just hoping that people would take their oppurtunity of coming to the states more as a "helping hand" rather than a freebee...
