Should I stretch my ears?

It's becoming a rather popular trend, but I still like the style of having stretched ears. Also, most of the girls I like find stretched ears attractive (at least, that's what they tell me).

Anyone without stretched ears, would you do it? Anyone with stretched ears, if you had to start over, would you do it again? Also, would you use a set of tapers or tape? Why?

I am thinking about a 0g stretch. I feel like 0g is a good place to be because it's not so big that I will have big gaping holes for the rest of my life, but I will still have a size big enough to wear various items like this, this, or this.

If your going to do it, I wouldn't go to large man. It may look and seem cool now but down the line when you get older ya prob wont want to sport plugs and what not and then your stuck with floppy ears. i have friends with varying size plugs from small starters to OMG WTF you can put a soda can in there. Its something we have talked about, how they are going to deal with it when they get older and the "trend/fad" dies off. My one friend has pen size holes and when he removes the plug they don't look to bad but they sure as heck dont look good or cool, even he doesn't like how they look without the plugs.

Sorry bro, I had to go with retarded. Not that I think the look is bad, but I definitely wouldn't do it myself. IMO, it entirely depends on the type of jobs you see yourself in going forward. There are places that don't care about things like that, but there are plenty of jobs you won't get.

I don't think the trend will die off, but as you get older you may not feel the same way about them. It isn't like discretely placed tattoos, where you can conceal them with clothes.

I know someone in my high school who had some and he just kept making it bigger and bigger and eventually it ripped and he had some weird dangly ear lobes. Eventually he got it fixed surgically though.

I voted retárd as well. Gotta look at the life long picture. Do you plan on working nights at YouTube for your whole life, or do you want to find a real job someday? Yeah, the holes can shrink, but how quickly?

Retarded. When this dies out, when you get older, when you have a job that won't allow it.....you'll regret it.

Are you doing it for yourself or for some girl who thinks it looks good? If it is a personal thing I say go for it. There will be ways of fixing it in the future. If it's for some girl, then it is not worth it.

You'll regret it, when you need surgery to close your hole

If your doing it for yourself then I say go ahead. I had gauges before but I've had them out for at least a year now. I went up to 0 gauge. They closed up pretty good. I have a couple friends who took theirs our as well and theirs closed up well too. They were at 0 and 00. But its all up to you.. Depends on the shape of your ear lobestoo. Some people don't have the right ears for them so they look kinda weird

First off, anyone who gauges their ears and then puts fake diamonds on it is doing it for the wrong reason haha

I always wanted to have both my ears pierced (not gauges) but a guy with two diamond studs looks funny, so I got gauges with intentions of never going bigger than a 4 or so..I'm at 2 now and I will never go bigger...0 is a big stretch from even a 2 or 4-2...I tried a few times to get 0s in but could never do it so I stopped trying...

Do it cuz you want to not cuz its a fad..

I got mine done at staircase in santa cruz on ocean st...check them out cuz they also have a great selection of stone gauges (don't smell as much, less irritable when u do switch gauges, and easier to maintain)

Id also recommend that if you intend to go as big as a 0, get the gauge holes punctured at like a 8 so you don't have to gauge one by one to the big sizes (saves $)

Here's the deal, from a dude that used to look like this:

To reiterate what others are saying - your ears will stink, and you may end up with permanent holes that look like cat butts, especially if you stay super small like 0 or 00g. Mine were 1-5/8" when I took them out, and they look like this after having had them out for almost 5 years:

All of that said, I'm certain that this has had absolutely no ill effects on my ability to find or maintain a job. I'm a career level health and safety professional, and I work for a Fortune 500 semiconductor manufacturer mostly in an office environment. In my current role, I regularly interface with everyone from production employees up to division presidents. I'm also VERY heavily tattooed, and this has had 0 effect on the aforementioned stuff as well. Maybe it would have 30 years ago, but not now. If you do good work, speak articulately, and live honestly you shouldn't have any problems no matter your physical appearance.

To be honest, I wouldn't want to work anywhere that would discriminate against a potential or current employee based on appearance. You know who does that kinda stuff? Fast food places - and unless the bottom drops out of the tech world, I'm not likely to end up working there.

Edit: To clarify, I started stretching my ears when I was 19, and I'm 32 now.
