Should I sell the 240sx for a 91 Celica All-Trac?
Should I sell the 240sx for a 91 Celica All-Trac?
I currently own an 05 STi and a 91 Nissan 240sx coupe SE w/ a Silvia dual projector front end conversion. 105xxx original miles. 5 spd.
Some guy at my work says he will sell me his 91 Celica All-Trac for $3500. It has 120000mi and he bought it from some desperate gambler at Bay101. He doesn't know it's very rare, but it makes me a bit nervous that it was bought from a desperate gambler, but this won't be my daily driver. I want to use it for Auto-x, and because there was only 2500 imported to the US, i also want it because its so limited.
What do you guys think? I need some advice on what to do. MY 240sx runs very strong and is in good condtion (minus the different color panels from the conversion), and I know his All-Trac may be in good to fair shape, but once again it won't be my daily driver.
I dunno what to do.

i think that you should most definately go for it...great platform, lightweight, all wheel drive, and the world famouse 3SGTE motor...that and if you ever have a shortage of parts, the MR2 turbo's motor is the same motor...
Oh, and of course, JDM goodies are readily available as the 3sgte had like, what, 4 or 5 revisions?
so, in short, GO FOR IT!

The GT4 is awsome, and since it's not a daily i'd say go for it!! A word to the wise *as i'm finding out* is that this is no cheap project. Maintainance and parts are not cheap and easy to do.
I've easily spent more getting the car up and running than I did buying it!
If the car runs, and has no dents/rust that is one hell of a deal.

I haven't really thought of a price for my 240, but it is in very good shape considering it's age.
It doesn't look the greatest because of the mismatched body panels but it is mechanically sound.
If I get the time I will post some pictures.
I know the All-Trac may have many similarities to my STi but I want a non-daily driven car for Auto-x, and this may be my call.
But I love my s13!
I'm gonna drive it next week when he brings it to work.
I will keep updating this.

Reason is :
1. The clutch is a very weak part of the car. (any owner will relate to this)
2. Not much power to even keep up with let alone handle due to the weight in its class.
3. a PITA/B1tch to work on "Trust me" we are on the second motor now.
4. Cost alot of money to make it go faster.
We kept ours because we love Toyotas and this is the reason why all these AWD turbo cars are here now. Celica alltrac is a nice car but I would think twice about autoXing it.
Use the Nissan instead, it will be a lot more affordable and fun to drive in the auto x.
