Thumbs down Shell gas

So I went to go get some gas at Costco and they didn't have premium fuel available. I was running on empty so I went to the Shell gas station across the street (it was pretty cheap too). Is it just me or does Shell gas make your car feel like there's less power? I filled up a full tank of it yesterday and I noticed a power loss when accelerating. Costco gas doesn't even give me that noticeable power loss.

I usually alternate between 76 gas and Costco gas.

I've never used Chevron gas yet since I've gotten my car. Has anyone used Chevron gas yet and does it seem like it causes a power loss like Shell gas does?

Chevron is quality. The one on 19th and Irving tends to be pretty cheap. And you can make FOB heads turns as you roll up next to their beater Integs and Civics, BWAHAHAHA!!!

Shell doesn't seem that bad tho... just really expensive (except for that week in June when the one on 19th and Taraval was like $2.05).

The one in Colma next to Costco is the cheapest I've ever seen a Shell gas station at. I don't think you can find any Shell gas prices cheaper than them around SF.

Their premium gas is like $1.87-1.91. Don't remember.

Maybe it's the ecu reacting to the different gas since I only use costco and 76 gas.

Man we go thru this every month. Shell sucks. People have reported problems with Chevron. The ONLY consistent good buy is 76.

For the record, 76 is the only premium gas that is backed up with real evidence of its quality by data logging the timing advance multiplier on the ECU (or so it was called in that post . Reportedly it always gave a solid 16 or 15.

wierd. shell and 76 are the only kinds of gas i'll run. arco, chevron, and exxon all give less power, although they DO give much better mileage... power's better tho.

I should say the order I'd trust...

76
Chevron
... any other I'd add toluene or xylene.

I hate having an engine that gets picky depending on the weather or inconsistent gas quality or my driving style.

i went to that shell once before the rallyx, i noticed the car felt like crud, and i got a cel from it. i know it has jack ish to do with it, but still. ive never used shell ever again.

i normally stick with 76, chevron, or valero. valero seems good to me, power still seems there, and mileage seems good too.

anyone have reasons why valero is bad?

Is shell that bad? I started gonig there after Miami told me about it. I used to go to Costco, which I guess is even ****tier. Everywhere else but the Shell at Costco has high gas prices for Shell, I thought it was a deal going there. Anyone know a deal for 76? Preferably in the DC or SF area?
