If he's already a convicted criminal, armed with a firearm, and shot first, the officers simply did the right thing.
Letting someone who is potentially very dangerous run loose could only have resulted in more people getting hurt or assaulted.

Saw on the news today people damaging Muni stations and rioting, that pissed me off soooooo much. The dumb ****ing kid fires at a cop, what do you expect. Why would you damage/riot because of this?

Nine years later, the deputy was killed while off-duty, unarmed and trying to help friends in Petaluma. Authorities said he was shot after confronting Thomas Edwin Halloran, a parolee with a history of stalking who had threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and her family.
