On that note too: Help me set up somethings to do. Got a friend coming into town, skip on the major touristy stuff. Looking for sushi, music (jazz blues) sights (not on the tourist list) drinks (Like the "View" in the Marriot). We're at the park on Sat.

what kinda of style
try to squeeze an appointment at Black Heart ( best in the city)
I had my half sleeve done by Orly at Seventh Son who own a shop in SJ called Humble Beggninings
I also had my SF logo on my back done by Joey at Ocean Avenue Tattoo. The owner of OAT is Salem from Picture Machine on Geary, they do great work as well.
My first tat was a bicycle cog done at Idle Hand by an apprentice there, it was on the whim so i dont remember his name.
My cousin is getting his sleeve finished at Lighthouse Tattoo from Jason who also migrated from Picture Machine.

def try to get an appointment with Jeff Rassier at Black Heart if you have the time and money.
seventh son can do it, but they are really great artists at their trade and can do just about everything, check out their website all of them do superb work.
picture machine might be ur best bet they do a lot of old school cartoon stuff

-Mike Davis (the owner) has a great reputation, but I have been tattooed by Greg Rojas. He is awesome and did a really great job transplanting the idea I had in my head onto my skin.

I've had a number of friends get tattooed here. I forget who tattooed them though.

Henry Lewis is the man.

Should come to Santa Cruz and go to O'Reilly's.
as for S.F. stuff... hmmmmm...
Everlasting is dope. Always wanted something from Mike Davis.
Temple in Oakland is awesome. Freddy Corbin.
Could go to Ed Hardy's if you can get in and want to pay through the nose.
Ryan and picture machine is coo if you like traditional.
Still.. I'd go to SC Tons of killer artists out here.
as for restaurants.
If you want fancy and different try the foreign cinema then you can go to Blondie's after.
Can take a boat across the bay and walk around and hit up Scoma's.
Zuni Café is a hot spot and you like Oysters so you'll like it. Plus... it's Oysters.
Blue Plate is an awesome american food place. One of those places you know about if you've been around S.F.
Swayn Oyster Depot... old timey traditional killer sea food.
Halu, A16, Ryoko are also hot spots.
Flour + Water was the number one new restaurant of 2010 I think.
Show Dogs is a cool spot to eat unhealthy sausages.
Go to Lime for breakfast.
I like the Irish Bank for beers. 111 Minna is a cool spot to take in some art and grab a drink if they're showing anything decent.
Hell... call Jeremy.

Tattoos I don't know, I've been looking for a japnese artist to do some kanji and design (family name and crest) but haven't really found much - I'd like to hear some suggestions on that
As far as Sushi go to shimo on clement/25th - being japanese and generally harsh on most sushi restaurants, shimo has been and always will be my favorite
My best friends family owns it, and even without all the free food I get when I go, their food has never let me down in the hundreds of times I've been there, and its not gimmicky like a lot of places now, just a good old fashioned japanese restaurant

Oh and for sights/nice views without toursists - go to turtle hill in the sunset (if you don't get lost) and bernal hill...you can walk to the top of both and have some nice views
Drive him on broadway street near divisidero - steeeeep hills and HUGE mansions
If you do go to shimo in sf - drive up clement to lands end/sutro heights area, really nice views of ggb and coastline from lands end and there are a lot of walking trails

anyone can do kanji, they'll just trace and fill in. the design tho it all depends. animals mean different things, crests and masks can be signs of anything from going to war to love.
Also check out Erik, Joey or Luke at 7th Son, they fill up quickly so call them asap. might as well drop in to get a consultation that way you can be ahead of the game, and when it comes down to tattoo time its faster.
Expect a minimum $100 deposit if you actually get consulted.
