Sea Otter Classic
Whos going? I'll be there Friday and Sunday.
Ive raced Downhill the past 4 years, but now its $90 and i have work on Sat. anyways.
For those that dont know, its one of the biggest Mtn Bike events in the world. Tons of booths with free stuff. Free Clif bars, Gu, Rockstar, Monster, Magazines, Muscle Milk mmmmmm
And free Subaru shirts if you show your subaru key! (at least last year) and Pastranas rally car and crew.
And a good excuse to go to Laguna Seca.

Car Info: this required information?
Yeah, I was going to try to go but I am going back their on Monday, and then again the weekend after that. So I think I am going to miss it once again this year. I also raced downhill once their like 4+ years ago.
Have they finally changed the downhill course to actually be downhill? There was a lot of pedaling when I raced it...

My son raced the BMX event last year, sorta... the rain really screwed up the track. We got drenched on Saturday, then ran two events on Sunday to make up for it haha.
Oh well, he's not doing BMX at this point so we'll stay home.

SEA OTTER SUCKS THIS YEAR! I snuck in with my friend at the Andretti Hairpin entrance.
-$30 admission to get into the lagoon. what a joke
- No dirt jump comp! WTF were they thinking? last year it was huge, a fat roll in and huge jumps. Nothing this year.
No Travis Pastrana rally crew...they said they were at a rally.
But what all made up for it was rock crawling...or dirt crawling Toyota FJ cruisers! it was sooo cool! they are pretty good crawlers too for only having 33's and a 2 inch lift.
And i got a subaru wristband, and SUBARU CHAPSTICK! its so cool!
Check out the Norco trials demo with Ryan Leech, he is amazing. Its the one with black metal obstacles near the campsites on the south side.
Its funny how the only people to respond are from the Monteray Bay Area! (People come from all over the world to this place!) besides blurr who is one of the few dedicated mtn bikers of the bay.
Ive raced the past 4 years, Jr Olympic before i was 18 and then DH hardtail 19-29 2 years. the course is the same its been 4 years ago. I guess it ended at the gun range 4 or 5 years ago after the asphalt curve, but the past 4 years they added a pedal section, off camber, some little drops, but lots of pedalling at the bottom.
Its definately a hardtail/ light full suspension course. I cleared the double log drop last year, hucked myself thru the air, all while wearing a suit and tie! haha i was all muddy.
I didnt race this year because i have work right now and Saturday. oh yeah...and it costs $90!!! F that.
ahh the BMX track is soooo nice! they mustve steamrolled it, super smooth and pretty big berms.
and it sucks how the Dual Slalom on the corkscrew hill is ALWAYS the same layout, they never change it up.
Yeah the road bikers can be a pain in the ***. they are all over my road too, throughout the rest of the year. Idiots, i guess they wanna get smooshed
I may go back on Sunday if i find a ride, but probably not. Im over it, as they say.

I got a pair of free tickets for Saturday from subaru.com along with free admission to the VIP luncheon at the Gary Fisher trailer. My 4 year-old daughter will be doing the little kid obstacle race.

ooo nice^
I just found out that the dirt jump comp is gonna be held in Aptos at the post office jumps tomorrow (Monday) aka the stomping grounds of Cameron McCaul and other Santa Cruz County Pros
dont know what time, but i'll be there.
The jumps were cool a couple years ago, i bet they are ginormous now.
They have a 50 foot triple, and a 10 foot tall 20 foot gap double...10 feet tall!
