How about simply driving to your local dealer, and ordering part number: 807020010 and throw in an 11126AA000

Problem solved.

He'll have to do that anyways... but that doesn't solve the problem of getting the thing out.

lol @ cresent wrench...there is no place for a cresent wrench in a garage period. You should always use the proper tool for the job. If you rounded off the nut (not the threads as you put it) you can try a few things. Try and hammer a size smaller socket (like the equivilant or next standard size) or the box end of a combo wrenchY you could also use a small pipe wrench t bbite on the nut as well. Lastly you could place a small block of c4 on the oil pan to try and free it....

What's wrong with fram? I have been using it without any problem. Did you try some pb blaster?

Oh... and I wouldn't go 6000 miles on an oil change. Especially if you use conventional oil and over the counter oil filters... and drive your car hard at all. 3-4000. I usually go about 4000 and I use synthetic 10/40 and try to use subaru OEM filter. I'm out so my last couple changes have been FRAM. No likely FRAM.
FRAM!!!

Dude I would use a old gym sock ductaped inside a mason jar and JBwelded onto the block before I used a fram filter.

Open a fram up and you will understand, they are the single worst filters on the market.

The best, in kind of order:

Penzol one (pro series not the low end stuff)
Mobil 1 / K&N (same filter different can on them...note that the TRD filters are just rebadged K&N)
Stock subaru (made by WIX if memory serves me right)
anything by WIX
AC Delco
anything else

.
Fram
