I'm just glad it's still around. I can't count the number of times I've turned to Scoobymods for help with a mod. $12 is nothing and I for one will be happy to contribute to the site to keep it up and running. Quit your *****ing guys...websites don't pay for themselves

OK first of all who did most all the mods on the site since late 99 (when we started as AZScooby?) Who spends hours and hours taking the time to stop working on his car to take photos then edit them with arrows and text and add step by step directions? Which BTW takes 4X longer than doing the actual mod. If I added up the hours it would truly be scary, I'm up late at night doing this stuff to as I have a normal job and a family w/ two little kids. I have seen zero money and never once asked to get any for myself. I go out of my way to answer questions off line, takeing special pictures to help out. I've even donated money a few times when we asked people for help when Kastle (who lost his job in October) had to upgrade the servers and fix the routers and crap like that. Good grief guys we've had threads all over asking for help so we could continue to help the Subaru community. Do you think we really wanted to make it so people had to give us money? We've been doing this for quite some time free. I try to keep the most current info on TSB's and all sorts of stuff. We've asked quite a few Sponsors for help too and got a grand total of 4 new ones not a huge help better than nothing I guess. From my standpoint I didn't even want sponsors that was Kastle's idea but he's the one that has to pay for all the hardware not me. I was hoping that people would step up and help. Good grief a whole 12 bucks! The dealer changes 75 bucks an hour here we just want to stay afloat. But when a lot of people didn't even bother to help us I ask myself why should I, I guess. Maybe we should have just pulled the site down altogether. Sorry to rant but I've put a ton of work into the site, don't get me wrong it's a labor of love but to have people complain like they have been I really feel taken advantage of and that stinks.

I put this thread up at the beginning of the year:

There is one on this site too somewhere, not to mention Scoobymods

Why doesn't Scoobymods do what every other web site does? Charge for banner ads, sponsors, etc? Most of us are on a dozen or so forums, and we support the people who support the site. Charing for access will just kill the site.

I needed some wiring today, and I found that Yahoo still has many cached pages of scoobymods. COOL!

Peaty, I appreciate the work you and others have put into Scoobymods.com. It's saved me much more than $12 per year.

So what is your operating cost per month? If most of that is hosting, maybe I can help.

All things to do with the web site you'll have to PM Kastle on the site. He know's all that stuff. I just do the mods and answer questions.

I agree. Cheers to Scoobymods.com $12 is chump change. I have only done the headlight mod from scoobymods. It was super helpful and to get this cool look it would have cost me a lot more. I also enjoy looking at all of the ingeniuos things people have done. I am a noob to Subaru and i love that site. Along with the resources here, i have been able to make informative decisions and carry them out. Thanks to Kastle, and Peaty and all the others who make the Subaru Community a better place.

Sorry to cross post this it's in one other spot:

It seemed to me like a lot of people didn't know we were asking for help and were caught off guard when the site went to PPV for the mod section. We are going to have another go and hopefully before the end of July it will be open to everyone. Please view this link for details:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=573648

the above thread will be the main one that will have the tally updates.

Thanks,

Peaty
