SCCA Autocross/Solo2 at Monster Park

Hey guys,
I'm going to the Autocross at Candlestick/Monster Park tomorrow AM. Anyone ever been before? I've never been. Since this is round 3 or 4 can I still race since I didn't attend rounds 1 or 2? Anyone going?

I've been there couple of times. The pavement is pretty bad. Small pebbles everywhere and the ground isn't flat (w/c makes it more fun).
You can race which ever round the event is, as long as you are a member or a member wud like to sponsor you.
i will be there but not with the subaru...

i heard it would be a good weather!

I usually go but my car is getting body work done right now.

Pavement sucks. Some people even manage to get air there . You need to be an SCCA member to race (doesn't matter that you didn't attend 1 or 2), but if you find a firendly Suby owner (theres lots) to sponsor you for the day, you can get by without it.

Have fun!

Matt (#255 STX, WRB WRX).

Autocross

Sweet!
Sounds like a good time. I'll be driving my STi. Its my first time autocrossing and I'm excited to go. I have an SCCA membership so I should be okay. Do you know if they usually have spare helmets available?
Thanks for the reply Yapster. This is also my first post.

Thumbs up

If you plan on doing this more than once ( and I'm sure you will as you'll be hooked like us!), I'd suggest investing in a helmet. "M" rated ones are inexpensive.
I'll be there bright and early with the STX class guys. Come by and hook up with us.

Getting a helmet is definitely the next step in the plan of me taking over Petter Solberg's job. Until then, what do you do about numbers? Do they have a way to temporarily mark them on your car?

Masking tape. Writing your numbers on a piece of white paper is NOT GOOD ENOUGH .

Matt,
I think it's $85/year now. I'll let you guys know as my membership renewal is coming up. Or you can always check the site: www.sfrscca.org/solo2

$30/race. No other fees. Runs are about a minute, more or less. Depends on the course design.

My car is two years old now and I just found my free 1 year SCCA membership card and sent it in. I hope its still valid!

I went to my first auto-x down at the Marina airport last weekend and now am soooo hooked!
my new suspension should be in this week(KYBs+usdm sti pink wagon springs), couple weeks to settle then getting aligned.
After that, the next step is another set of wheels and tires just for auto-x to get eat up. maybe RT-615s?

How much does it cost to compete each event with the SCCA membership?

Events are $30 each.

According to the current SCCA member application PDF, its still $60/yr, but that could be way out of date.
