Scammer Alert: BS Dent Repair (Please Read)
Moderators, please STICKY! This is NOT another useless DarkOnion thread. This is real!
Hi all.
My mom was scammed yesterday. She isn't very knowledgeable about cars. She was approached by a couple with a little brown dog (mixed breed, short haired) named Frank. They claimed that they could fix the dents and paints chips on my mom's van, and my brother's Volvo. My mom just wanted to surprise my brother with a car that looked brand new. (I am sorry, but she should of just asked me, and I could of detailed that ish.)
Their work is complete bs.
The couple approached my mother at the gas station at 680 and Washington Blvd. in Fremont at about 3PM. They offered to repair the dents and cosmetic defects for $200 for two cars. Mom went to the bank, got $200 in cash, and put it into her pants pocket. They came over to my mom's home, where John worked on the car, while his wife chatted with my mom. I don't know the details, but somehow, the money went missing out of my mom's pockets. It was probably stolen. The work that was done on the car was bull****. After finishing the repairs, they told my mom to wash the area the next day where it would look like new. Mom washed the area the next day and NOTHING was fixed. Mom was pretty much scammed a few hundred dollars, and I wouldn't be surprised if some other things in the house/garage are missing. I haven't looked at the car yet, but I think I got some work I need to do to get my brother's car back to what it was before they f'ed it up.
The man, John Miller, is, according to my mom, mixed, probably Hispanic. About 5''6". Average build. His wife is Tina Miller. She claims she is a psychic. She is 5'2"-5'4"ish. She is a little heavier than average build. They drive a white truck with lettering on either the driver, passenger side, or both window advertising dent repair. The bed of the truck isn't covered. It isn't a new truck and it isn't and old truck. They claim they work out of San Jose. They approached my mom at a gas station.
Their phone number that my mom got off of caller id and was able to call them back is (916)595-3323.
According to my neighbors, John is driving a Chevy or Ford, white pick-up truck. He is either white or Hispanic, 25-30 years old, light blond hair, light blue or green eyes. Well built, stout. 5'8" or 5'9".
Will add more information when when compile it.
Additional Details:
My mom is $400 in the hole. She "lost" $200, then paid them $200 for their so-called work. I don't think she misplaced $200. To be honest, I think it was stolen/pick pocketed from her. She searched up and down in the house and wasn't able to find it.
And after a lot of work, I was able to remove most of the improperly matched paint. Paint wasn't even close. If you take a look at the picture, it is silver paint on a car that is a light pearl green. Post #12.
As far as I know, nothing else was stolen. All of my stuff is intact. Neighbors were notified. Hopefully these people won't come around again.
Additional:
Might not mean anything, but they also said that they had two kids.

Nice details! Should be easy to find him and easy for people to avoid him thanks to the detailed description you gave. Sorry your mom had to be scammed, prolly feels worse than being scammed yourself, huh?
Awesome that you have their phone number! Have you called it? Does it work?

I am f'ing pissed. Not in my house! I seriously hope they didn't jack my ****. I had a Porter Cable, a few performance car parts, bunch of PS2 games, 4 wheels and tires, 3 more wheels, an LCD monitor, my detailing products (worth a few hundred dollars), and a bunch more expensive *** ****.
And yes, the phone should work. I have not tried to call them. My mom thought the money was misplaced and was stolen by someone else and she called them up and tried to get them to make a statement to the insurance company. When she did that, they immediately became defensive saying that they didn't steal anything.

Knee is hurting like a ****. I wish my mom asked me before she did it. I would of told her to call the po-lice.
Hope you guys share this on all the other forums. So far, looks like nothing else was stolen. Took some pics. Probably going to need to run some compound. Might need to wet sand my moms car and refinish. Going to post pics of the car in a bit.
