Santa Cruz.. I need a code reader ASAP

I just threw a CEL. Boost cut hard and my car is running like shiz now.

The dealership is friggin shut down. I need a code read and cleared like right now. I need to know if it's safe to drive my car around or if I'm stranded.

like right now.

If the light isn't flashing you're probably ok to drive. At least like a grandma.

I don't care if you think it's sound or not. Flashing is critical, not flashing usually means you can drive the vehicle to a dealer/repair facility/whatever.

Edit: I should add that your cruise light would be on as well.

Point is you shouldn't panic about it. Find someone, but don't strand yourself because the light is on. Myself and plenty of other people have driven with CELs. Word.

I'm nowhere near you or I'd offer to have you stop by. Sorry.

pull the battery. Sounds like you just overboosted, probably from the weather. If it still runs like crap, or the cel comes back after the ecu resets then its something you should get checked out.

I pulled off and idled for a while. It wasn't flashing so I felt o.k. to drive. I got it over to the dealership and they had one bay open.

Pulled the code.

Maf sensor freaked out. It's been cleared and doesn't seem to be coming back on.

So I'll clean the maf when I get home and hope it doesn't come back on.

Scared the crap out of me. The way it cut boost and started running was gnarly. I seriously thought I threw a rod. It was idling like shiz. And I stuck my foot in it once to see if it was a flook and it pulled boost again...HARD.

I already emailed GST for a motor quote....haaaa.

I should start thinking about it anyways. If this one goes I'm going big time that's for sure. 300/300 would be good enough for me.

So....update is that so far it's running smooth since the clear and it hasn't popped back on. I'm gonna drop it at the dealer next week to look at a suspension issue I'm having, change my oil and give it a once over.

Everything is pretty much new on the dang thing so the only issue I could have is block related....haaa.

You probably just got some water injested through the intake and into the MAF sensor. I would suggest drying it all off and cleaning it out.

haaa.

i was just returning your PM. That's exactly what I said to you..haa. You're a genius.

Soon as I get home I'm pull the stuff apart. I'll dry it off and clean the maf with some alcohol. Hope it works.

we'll talk soon about the pm I sent you. I'd like to start putting pencil to paper... I'm one of those over thinking/planning types when it comes to my car. I already did the play around with it til' you figure it out with my last car. More of a one shot one kill kind of deal now a days..haaa.

oh... and thanks mike for the quick response.

Everyone else as well. Thanks for the input and the answers/thoughts, I really appreciate it. I was having a little panic attack out there on the side of the road.

Panic attacks aren't fun. Glad we could help.

I honestly didn't even consider rain as I'm in a building with no windows so tend to forget about outside. Heh.

no kidding. I was sitting there in the rain staring at a tree and some power lines downed right next to me. listening to my car idle about as smoothly as I could run a mile with a stick in my ***. My wife's car is sitting in front of the house right now overheating...looks like it's gonna need water pump, thermostat and a timing belt. Having my car go down with a blown motor right now would not be good.

Little shared knowledge between you guys here and my man at subaru of santa cruz and I'm feeling much better... as long as that friggin light doesn't come on again.

seeing that thing flash was not fun.
