Samsung ultra-slim LED TV

hi all, im thinking of replacing my 46" Sony LCD (60Hz) for this new Samsung LED LCD(120Hz/240Hz) . it just came out this month and my friend has a hookup on it. is it worth it to pony up the extra $$$ for the 240Hz? your inputs is greatly appreciated

Personally, give the LED TVs a year to calm down in price. Your LCD TV is probably just fine for now.

Now that being said - how much of a hookup can you get? Price has to be justified IMO.

Yeah if its a good/great hookup (considering they go for about $3k+) then go for it. There's more to the LED TV's than just the Hz, like the insane contrast ratio which to me is more important since that gives you a better picture. You could get a really good LCD/Plasma with a great contrast ratio and good Hz for probably a $1k+ more less. Unless the hookup is really really good, I'd pass. I've seen the Samsung LED TV at Best Buy and even though the picture was incredible, I wasn't too happy with how shaky the picture was.

Also know that the samsung LEDs out right now, 6000, 7100, and 8000 series are NOT true LEDs. The upcoming 9000 is a TRUE LED TV. The other ones out right now are edge lit LEDs (similar to LED backlit LCDs). I personally find the 240hz alittle annoying but everyone is different. I have to install these everyday so my eyes have adjusted.

yeah the fast refresh rate looks too much like a CGI image
great for maybe games/sports but looks weird when watching a movie
If you can afford it then get the best TV you can buy.
It's like buying car parts, buy it right the first time

Alot of people are afraid to get plasmas but I HIGHLY recommend Pioneer Elites. Dont be afraid to buy them since Pioneer has stopped making plasmas. you WILL NOT be disappointed. If something goes wrong with your Elite, they can still service it eventhough they dont make them anymore.

ya unless you can get a hook-up, laser televisions are coming out near future making LEDs lower price. Plus, being a new technology, they do only get better in the future like said above by so steezy

yeah no need to be an early adopter of a product and pay the high price. let other people do that while you wait for the price to fall.. it might be worth the money but your tv has to be at least good enough to hold onto while you wait for dropping prices.

I would wait and let to see if there are any long term problems that can occur and to allow them to make it better and for the price to go down.

Yeah my next TV will be one with 3D capabilities since developers are already working on 3D gaming for the PS3. But I don't think you'll have to own a laser TV for the 3D capability. Of course I could be wrong
