Alright, here is the most recent stuff I've had. It's been open for probably about 10 weeks and surprisingly doesn't taste oxidized.
10 weeks? Oh no way that's dead now.

Old opened sake doesn't taste rusty like old opened wines, instead, it just turns to crap tasting sake.

Don't let ^ that stuff ruin your taste for sake.

I've found sake doesn't last open, even in the fridge, for more than a day. I find that if I drink an open sake 24 hours after opening, it's barely still ok. 2 days after, and it's turned to bitter yuck.

Also, sake lovers get the dry stuff and drink it COLD.

Warm helps cheap sake taste better, but good sake is best enjoyed cold.

You almost need the same kind of sensitivity to fresh sashimi.

My buddy was stationed in Korea for three years. It's all he drinks now. Got me hooked on it too

That's it... I'm getting me some Soju. Any recommended brands?

You get them at the Korean stores or anywhere?

I'm enjoying an Ozeki right now. I'd say if you want something in between a martini (original) and straight vodka, that's sake.

Good, fresh sake does not taste like rubbing alcohol.

lol sounds like someone definently has had soju before! I prefer to get the 2ltr green jinro bottles from the 7-11s since its a gamble whenever you buy it unlabled. My favorite is to grab the soju and pour a bunch of kool*aid (premix tub kind) in it with a little bit of water...dont like the taste? Add more kool*aid! The cherry stuff is the best

haha troof! When I was TDY in Osan the bars had these huge beer mugs with soju and whatever flavor syrup/koolaid available (easily like the basken robbins of soju!) and it was $3/mug...yeah we drank alot of soju that night

Italians have Torani to put in their carbonated water, Koreans have flavor syrup to put in their Jinro.

I had soju, red bull, and spite once in Korea. That tasted pretty good. Also had shots of soju straight, but didn't care for it too much.
